Maledictus Terra Book 2: Sanguifex Part 73

Part 73
Magna looked at Mortis, a frown on her face. What could there possibly be to say in a situation like this? She was sure that she knew everything about her ancestor that she needed to know.
Lucien cleared his throat. "I do not think that we have time for this Mortis. We need to get going... besides... we are not yet ready for the possible fallout." The Lifedrinker's eyes flicked back and forth and only Mortis could understand the glances and their meaning.
If the revenant could sigh he would have. "Very well. Another time then. Since you are all out of your minds and wish to play with hell-fire. How do you suggest we proceed? What is it that you need?"
Lucien looked at the King of this fallen kingdom. "We will need a site in the lands that is holy or sanctified. Do you have such a place?"
Sebastian frowned and thought about it for a while. "I suppose that there is a church in the city... but its back the way we came the first time... I don't know if it would be safe to travel there."
"The creature shall not send any of her minions to hunt us. She will grant us a day to attempt her revival."
"What do you mean revival?" Magna asked.
Adrian put a hand on her arm. "We don't really have time for a debate about this. That creature we saw... the elk. It had a different form. It was once good. Now it is corrupted... she is corrupted."
"Well then, let's get on with it then." King Sebastian said. "If there is any chance of saving the Kingdom and lifting the curse, I have to try it."
"What if some of the Hungers do not know about the respite granted?" Derrick said. Everyone turned to look at him. He had not said much for most of the journey. He did not know much about the magic they spoke about. But he knew about the hunt. "We cannot assume that she can communicate with all of them across all distances."
"He's right." Trix said. "We should be on guard."
Lucien nodded. "As long as it does not slow us down too much." The Lifedrinker turned to look at the King. "Lead on."
