DIY - Do I have enough wood yet?
Good day all. Zak Ludick here from Cape Town, South Africa.
I am never in the habit of letting good material go to waste, so when I saw a pile of wooden slats left over at site after a job AND I was given the laborious task to clear up site, I took the opportunity to take the wood home...
Now... Do I have enough wood? I added the wood to what I have lying around...
Right... now it is time to start planning what I am going to DO with all this wood!
Well I have a few ideas:
- A covering for the front door.
- A partial covering for the back area where Claire can sit and have a smoke if it is raining outside (since the garage is pretty much totally full)
- A gift for a friend - A table that he can use for playing games as well as hosting guests.
- Bookshelves!
What else do you think would be a good project for me to take on with all this wood?
Thanks for reading!
Cheers!

Maybe some storage shelves for the shed! Is the timber good enough to be exposed to the weather out side?

Some of it is OK for outside. But those thin slats are sandwich boards. I will go with a NO on that one.
Loads of potential there, especially if it's extra, or free bits of wood. Here I would make a ladder to reach a high point where the water tank sits. Or burn it in the fireplace for warmth, though that might be a waste perhaps.
Burning is indeed a bit too much of a waste.
Oh I am definitely going to build with it. Scraps and off cuts might get burnt though
