Constantia Gatsby and the Sandwich Master

This Weekend, like I explained in the post HERE, I was doing rehearsal support while @clairemobey and @jasperdick were getting themselves ready for another live performance.

Occassionally I need to take some videos and pictures, help with a bit of carry and pass here and there and off they went. I got set up with my laptop to do some Hive work but unable to get online sufficiently, I resorted to playing Titan Quest.

I was getting a bit hungry, however so I sallied forth into the nearby neighborhood for a quick take-away. The only problem was that I was in the beautiful Constantia, a somewhat fancy neighborhood... they don't have much in the form of take-away places... or i just don't know the area well enough.

I did not really want to order a take-away from a restaurant or pub, there was a pizza place but I was not in the mood for pizza. Must have been a carbs craving so I went to the Constantia Village Pick 'n Pay and wondered around... and a cunning plan formed in my brain...

It's Gatsby Time!

So I brought my ingredients to Jasper's folks' kitchen and set up a quick and easy Gatsby. Why not?

French loaf, cut and buttered.
200g French Fries (We just call them "slap chips" here)
2x PnP Boerewors sausages.

Does this mean this is a Hugenot's Gatsby? French, French, Boer... Oh well, the reference and significance will be lost on most people.

Yes, I know "French fries" did not come from France. It's Belgian. I know this and if you did not know this, you're welcome.

Of couse if you have other sentiments/information about fried potato chips, please let me know in the comments below! Hehe.

Cut up the Wors (sausage) and butter that bread.

Stack it with Chips and the Meat. I added some braai spice and Jasper and i shared this thing down the middle.. More or less. Hehe.

The Sandwich Master

Also mentioned in a previous POST, it had been @Matthew-Williams' birthday.

We went to Spur, a family restaurant franchise known for its burgers, ribs, steaks and whatnot.

I ordered an Eisbein, @clairemobey had the large portion of Pork Ribs, with calamari and buffalo chicken wings on the sides. We totally shared a bit of everything with each other.

It was quite a feast and such a treat from @clairemobey!

I did, however, have a lot of Eisbein left. I could have totally finished it, but I did not want to be uncomfortable sitting in the movie theater, so I saved my leftovers for later.

Then took it to work the next day and made amazing sandwiches!

I could have drowned the eisbein in sauces but with the meat still juicy and the sauce on the outside, adding tomato sauce would have been a waste!

It was wonderful!

That's me, quick and easy and amazing sandwiches that really made my day!

Cheers!
@zakludick
