¡Vaya, parece que la salitre se declaró en huelga y decidió devorar mi guitarra! Esa maldición costera que convierte todo en polvo… Pero, ¿saben qué? En vez de lamentarme, decidí que si el instrumento iba a tener ese sonido “vintage de playa apocalíptica”, pues iba a sacarle provecho. Esta vez cambié por completo la fórmula de grabación, y el resultado es… bueno, francamente suena bastante raro, ¡JAJAJAJA! No sabría ni cómo describirlo.

Para colmo, en un arranque de valentía (o locura), intenté tocar encima de esa base carcomida y le metí un sintetizador. El combo fue tan surrealista que quedó como una movida definitivamente avant-garde. Sonó a banda sonora de una película experimental de los 80 que nadie entendió, pero en el mejor sentido posible. Creo que en la próxima sesión voy a experimentar aún más a fondo con este caos, ¡a ver hasta dónde llega la decadencia sonora!

Para serles sincero, todo esto lo hice a pesar de que he estado medio enfermo. Me agarró una gripe horrible, mi primera gripe venezolana oficial :S. Estar con fiebre y todo ese malestar ralentiza todo, pero a la vez me da una especie de desconexión rara que a veces es buena para crear.

La canción de fondo la descubrí hace poco y me enamoré al instante. Dije: “ok, hagámosla, sin miedo”. Reconozco que mi voz no me sale muy bien, sobre todo con la garganta medio destruida, pero traté de acercarme a la voz original lo más que pude, aunque sea con un susurro ronco y nasal. Al final, todo se fusionó: la guitarra corroída, los sintetizadores extraños, mi voz griposa y una canción que adoro. Un desastre maravilloso, la verdad. ¡Así es esto!

Wow, it seems like the saltpeter went on strike and decided to devour my guitar! That coastal curse that turns everything to dust… But you know what? Instead of complaining, I decided that if the instrument was going to have that "apocalyptic beach vintage" sound, I was going to make the most of it. This time I completely changed the recording formula, and the result is… well, frankly it sounds pretty weird, HAHAHAHA! I wouldn't even know how to describe it.

To top it off, in a fit of bravery (or madness), I tried playing over that corroded base and threw in a synthesizer. The combo was so surreal it turned into a definitely avant-garde move. It sounded like the soundtrack to an experimental '80s movie that nobody understood, but in the best possible way. I think in the next session I'm going to experiment even more deeply with this chaos, to see how far this sonic decay can go!

To be honest with you, I did all this despite being kind of sick. I caught a horrible flu, my official first Venezuelan flu :S. Being feverish and feeling all that malaise slows everything down, but at the same time it gives me a kind of weird disconnect that's sometimes good for creating.

I discovered the background song recently and fell in love instantly. I said, "okay, let's do it, no fear." I admit my voice doesn't come out very well, especially with my throat half destroyed, but I tried to get as close to the original voice as I could, even if it's with a hoarse, nasal whisper. In the end, everything fused together: the corroded guitar, the strange synthesizers, my flu-ridden voice, and a song I adore. A wonderful disaster, truly. That's how it is!
