Crucial Lessons From 2022
This is the last day of 2022 and few hours from now (I live in GMT time zone) we will be getting in 2023. I won't lie, 2022 has been a wild ride and it exceeded my expectations both positively and negatively.
Realistically, I didn't plan enough simply because I didn't know enough. But that's okay, because no one really knows enough. The world is increasingly becoming non linear and 1,2,3,4,5,6 rarely holds true, it's more like 1,9,4,7,2. I guess we have to plan better despite not knowing enough. This requires a lot of mental power but I think I can afford the bandwidth.
LessonsIn a nutshell, 2022 was filled with great lessons that I'll take with me for years to come. It changed my view on a lot of things and introduce new perspectives to my reality. More than a quarter of it is thanks to the articles I read on Hive.
I group all the lessons into three sections. The value of opportunities, the digital age and why trying to know it all is futile.
Make Hay While The Sun ShinesThe sun wouldn't shine forever but most people(especially myself) behave like it would. This is the epitome of procrastination and we have made it a habit.
Instead of making the best use of our time and the opportunities at our disposal, we fold our hands or put them in our pockets thinking that time will last forever and opportunities will continue to come our way.
Not until you receive a punch in the solar plexus that takes your breath away will you realize that forever is a myth, it doesn't exist down here on Earth. I received two of these punches in 2022 and both of them in just a span of two months.
The sunset came abruptly (or was it an eclipse?) and the moon hasn't risen yet leaving me in the dark to figure things out. Life is a fickle and opportunities have a time window. Going forward, I intend to make every bit of hay while the sun is shining.
All Things DigitalThere are some who want to bridge the digital world with the physical world. And there are others who want to delineate the digital world from the physical world. Which one are you?
I'm in the former camp because there's no anchor in the latter.
The digital world is here to stay and it has pervaded almost every part of our lives. I think the digital age is around 30-35 years old now and I'm only 6 years old in it.
Up until recently (2020), I only saw it as an add on and not really the main thing. But 2022 changed it for me. The virtual world is the main thing now. I was reluctant to accept it at first but it is what it is.
Zooming into Hive, I have decided to make it my home in the digital frontier as it has everything one needs to live in a digital world. Hive is a digital country and I'm already a citizen.
In my option, the shift in the digital world being the main thing is profound. Because it requires a shift in mental perspective, new mental concepts. Like I mentioned above, the world is becoming increasingly non linear and this will require us to develop non linear thinking.
Don't Need All The AnswersDo we need to know all the answers? Do we ever know all the answers? Why do we feel that we need to know all the answers before making a decision?
2023 thought me that trying to know it all is futile. Apart from extreme cases, we really don't need all the answers to make a decision. Only the fundamentals will do.
The fundamentals are like a seed. You don't need to know what the branches, leave or fruit will look like to plant the seed. What matters most is having the seed, plant it (i.e make the decision) and those answers will come to you gradually.
When I roamed the forest in 2022, I did found some seeds but I didn't plant any of them because I was busying looking for what their leaves or fruit will look like. Those seeds would have been sprouts by now if I planted them right when I got them.
Going into 2023, my decision making process will be adjusted. Look for the fundamentals and make the decision(s) as soon as I find them.
ConclusionI feel like 2022 laid the ground work or foundation of what is to come in the coming years. All I have to do is apply the lessons learned to build up the pieces and add the layers to it.
There are already fireworks lighting up the sky and it's not even 2023 yet. It must be the people who feel that 2022 wronged them so they're trying to get rid of it before it's official time. I can't say I share that sentiment but I would like to join the tradition of watching fireworks lit up the sky.
I take this opportunity to thank you all for your support on my Hive journey. I appreciate it and I'm grateful for it. I plan on being here next year and the year after and the year after that and....(Obviously, I live here!).
**Happy New Year to each and everyone one of you, Best wishes in 2023! **

Procrastinating is a habit that is glad not to be a victim of, naturally I just get going when something interests me and I find value in it. We just have to keep at what is important to us by eliminating procrastination as much as possible.
I strongly believe in the future of the digital network state, Hive makes that concept a lot easier for me to grasp. Hive is home to me.

It was a habit that I was kind of comfortable with the whole of 2022. I think that's a good way to tackle procrastination. We usually procrastinate on things that doesn't interest us.
I believe too. I think Hive is like the first (coming to the second) stages of a digital network state.
These are interesting lessons and thank you for sharing them. We don't need to know it all nor the answers indeed. Guess that's how life is😉
Cheers to abundance and joy this new year and beyond!
