The past holds lessons that cannot fade,
As forward is the only path we’re made,
Through joy and pain our memories live,
Lessons to our future lives we give.
I think of times when you have cried,
Wishing I could be by your side.
But what has been cannot be undone,
All we have is what’s yet to come.
So as we travel on this road,
With hope for where our footsteps go,
May these words your spirit lift:
You’ll always have my love, my sweet, my gift.
Though apart our lives we spend,
In heart and soul I am your friend.
