I gave all to you

I bared for you fear's tender vulnerabilities
And gave confidences life had shamed to show
My words of love, each thought my heart held dear
The drafts of poetry you said helped you grow
I gave all to you, withholding nothing back
Left naught for even self-love to later find
What use was such complete entrusting act?
Your leaving leaves my heart an empty wind
Where is the solace promised in your eyes?
Vows whispered soft against love's tangled veil
All nakedness of spirit now belies
The hidden core your glance failed to assail
Thus memory enshrines each broken ‘I love you’
While wandering loveless streets, I only rue
