Army Daddy | 5 minutes freewrite with prompt 'Evil Smile'
My dad, is a really nice and soft hearted person and pardons us alot in most of the things we do. He would simply call us to advice us without lifting a finger to beat in the African manner of training children. He left my mother to do all the flogging when necessary. My eldest brother took advantage of this and was always getting into trouble knowing that he wouldn't get beaten. But as they say, 9 days for the thief........
He met his waterloo when he returned from school with a suspension letter for fighting. He gave off an evil smile while going through the letter, sooner his face changed. My brother was questioned and he didn't show any sign of remorse about his deeds but kept claiming he was right to have beaten up a fellow student.
You are from a christian home, my dad said and there are certain things you shouldn't be found doing and fighting is one of them. That was the first time in 17 years I ever saw my father raise his voice. He got into his room and returned with a bundle of canes. We were quite surprised and shocked. He commanded my brother to lay down, he flogged him so hard and when he tried ws to run, he was wiped all over the body. From that day whenever we understood and saw his proof of being in the armed forces.
Whenever we saw dad we simply salute him like soldiers.
