| Hi friends! This weekend (Saturday, to be exact) my friends and I decided to go to the forest to look for mushrooms. I am an experienced mushroom picker (like my friends), so as soon as autumn comes, we go to the forest almost every weekend. This time we chose the forest not too far from our house (only half an hour by car), so we did not need to get up at dawn, as usual. We left the car and walked some more distance on a dirt road. And we had to walk through a field with tall, waist-covered grass covered with dew. Because of this, our pants got wet through. | Привіт, друзі! Цими вихідними (у суботу, якщо точніше) я з друзями вирішив поїхати в ліс, шукати гриби. Я грибник зі стажем (як і мої друзі), тому як тільки приходить осінь ми майже кожні вихідні вирушаємо в ліс. Цього разу ми обрали ліс не надто далеко від нашого дому (лише півгодини їзди автомобілем), тому ми не мали потреба вставати вдосвіта, як зазвичай. Ми залишили авто і ще деяку відстань ішли пішки по ґрунтовій дорозі. А ще ми були змушені пройти полем із високою, по пояс травою, вкритою росою. Через це наші штани промокли наскрізь. |

| At first it was quite dark in the forest, so I had to photograph my first white fungus (Boletus edulis), which I found, with a flash. However, then we approached the edge of the forest and the light became much more, so I photographed the redhead mushroom (Leccinum aurantiacum) and underbirch mushroom (Leccinum scabrum) only with natural light. All these mushrooms are edible | Спочатку в лісі було доволі темно, тому мені довелося фотографувати мій перший білий гриб (Boletus edulis), який я знайшов, зі спалахом. Проте потім ми підійшли до краю лісу і світла стало набагато більше, то ж і червоноголовець (Leccinum aurantiacum), і підберезник (Leccinum scabrum) лише з природнім освітленням. Всі ці гриби їстівні. |

| When the sun rose higher, it became hot and we decided to complete our forest journey. And when we returned to the cars, we came across a horse grazing by the path. | Коли сонце піднялося вище, стало спекотно і ми вирішили завершити нашу лісову мандрівку. А коли ми поверталися до машин, то натрапили на коня, який пасся біля стежки. |

I have always wanted to do this with friends but I am so scared of snakes and I live in an area where it isn't the safest. This seemed like it was fun.
We also have venomous snakes, but I have never met them in the woods
Interesting, I still am very scared of the idea.
Oh wow I have definitely been excited and it's starting to get about that season around here. I have definitely been meaning to get out into the forest and with fire danger all the summer I have avoided getting out due to the danger.
Especially having the extremely fast moving forest fires that the Pacific Northwest is getting known for because of the overabundance of fuel.
However that's going to be another problem is getting in and accessing all these areas where life is rejuvenating and there are so many more mushrooms exploding everywhere and helping to bring life back.
We have chanterelle mushrooms and morels as well as quite a few other different amazing edible mushrooms out there as well as truffles.
And actually thinking back on it I have run across truffles as well and unfortunately instead of collecting them and selling them as apparently they're extremely expensive I use them as projectiles and throwing practice....
Yep I was pretty dumb kid. However just because I do remember all of these different areas and these different microclimates that grow in I really can't wait for this year and getting to go explore the woods and as well find some really good munchies.
