Hi friends! Today I want to share with you photos of a very interesting fungus - Clavicorona (Artomyces pyxidatus). I already told you about this mushroom in this post. In English literature, this mushroom is called a coral mushroom because it resembles this inhabitant of the warm southern seas. But my "coral" grew up in a harsher northern climate, on dead wood. I found Artomyces pyxidatus in a mixed forest, with a significant predominance of deciduous trees, mostly beech and hornbeam, although there were pines in some places. Clavicorona (the tips of the branches of this mushroom and really crowned with formations resembling small crowns) is considered an edible mushroom, although I have never eaten it and do not intend to, given the low nutritional value of this mushroom.

Beautiful fresh looking specimens. You should definitely try eating a bit, this is one of my favorite mushrooms for taste and texture, at the age you pictured them they are perfect for harvesting. If they start getting brown tips then they turn bitter.

The best way to give it a taste test is to just take a branch of it then cook it in olive oil or butter to be able to get their natural taste. It kind of reminds me of pasta for texture with a nice deeper mushroom flavor.

This is a very simple way to cook, but all the most delicious mushrooms are very easy to prepare 😊

Yeah I usually cook it simple just to get a taste to figure out what to do with it later. Crown tipped coral is often just flash boiled in ramen soups and placed on top. When you flash boil it it retains a bit of its spicy peppery taste. Once fully cooked the spicy taste goes away. I prefer to cook it separately with a bit of rosemary and place it on some linguini with parmesan and italian seasoning.

with wrong tags it can make your post less visible, sometimes it is close to critical.
but within a proper community -- it is still visible and no problem

Really nice corals! You can see the tips turning brighter yellow/orange in some pics.
