The Carnation Revolution - A very different way to celebrate it
Welcome to my second entry for #StreetArt community!
Today, Portugal is celebrating the day of The Carnation Revolution.
48 years ago, in 1974, a military coup by left-leaning military officers overthrew the authoritarian Estado Novo regime in Lisbon. This revolution resulted in the Portuguese transition to democracy and the end of the Portuguese Colonial War. I went to Belém to have lunch with a good old friend, and on my way back home, I've passed by a wall that was being painted by a group of 4 artist! This mural had the Revolution has a theme, and even that the work was still on progress (started today), and it only would be finished in two weeks from now, I took some photos of the colorful spray painted art!
The carnation revolution got its name from the fact that almost no shots were fired and from restaurant worker offering carnations to the soldiers when the population took to the streets to celebrate the end of the dictatorship, with other demonstrators following suit and carnations placed in the muzzles of guns and on the soldiers' uniforms...
1. Location: Belém, Lisbon, Portugal

3. Artist names (to be researched soon... ;) )
I haven't noted the four artists names, but I surely pass by has after the conclusion of the mural to catch up with all the details, and tags!
