9/18 on WR in Mythic. Thoughts on New Deck: Hierophant Silenus + Strength-Stealers

(Edited)

After a short drop, I did 83.7% win rate on the way from Solar to Mythic. 60% win rate in Mythic on Thursday. All the week, there were plenty of aggro Light, Nature, and Death decks on my way in Ethereal Diamond and Mythic so I thrived. However, on Friday evening, I encountered numerous Mages. They kept chasing me in Ethereal Diamond too. Look at this parade:

I had two more matches against Magic on WR with the better result:

If not that bad luck, just one more zombie deck or Aggro Light, I could get a leggy... 😢

Aggro Were Back and I Returned to Mythic Thanks to Them

After I missed a leggy, aggro decks were back 😡 At least, that helped me to return to Mythic and do 30 wins for "What a mortal" pack.

I mostly played the deck I told about last time. But for the reason my win rate against Magic is so low, I decided to elaborate more magic/control-resistant one.

A New Deck, More Magic/Control-Resistant

I've tested this deck (the impression is optimistic) but not too many times yet. Suggestion in the comment section are welcome!

Hierophant Silenus and Strength-Stealers

Hierophant Silenus and strength-stealers seemed to me a good idea since the very beginning of Mortal Judgement: first you set many minions, safely due to strength stealing, and, then, Hierophant Silenus makes them card-stealers. I also thought about potential synergy of Hierophant Silenus and Casino Deception (buffing other domain creatures). For that reason, I had the least commercially viable buy, a shadow Hierophant Silenus for 0.024 ETH this summer when I was obsessed with building a shiny Deception collection.

Was it silly or not, now I can include this card in my deck and have my deck still fully shadow+.

2 diamonds (Shakedown, Heroic Brawler), 7 golds, and the rest are shadow versions 🤠

Hierophant Silenus is great against Nature!

Hierophant Silenus proved being super helpful against Nature since Nature allows setting numerous minions (before they mostly killed by Wildfire). If Hierophant Silenus appear at that moment, a feast starts! Nature has plenty removals you can get due to Hierophant Silenus's roar and it helps to secure the advantage. Look at the screenshot:

Getting weapons of Nature is a delight, Canopy Barrage and Primal Guidance in the hand:

Finnian Fruitbearer and Black Jaguar stolen along with Marsh Walker taken by Bound by Her Will:

A Blade Borrower buffed with Sudden Bloom and Deception buffers, kill them all!! This:

More Hidden Creature for Buffing

I've also added 2 Feral Shapeshifters since buffers (2 Dark Knives, 2 Assasin's Aim) need hidden carriers. Besides, 4 mana is quite early which is very useful as Lokian Disciple proved many times.

Card Draw

I chose having only 1 Frumentarii Instigator since this card is great against Deception but, too often, it goes as a weak 4-mana creature with no card-draw effect when you have several non-Guild cards in the deck like I do.

The second card-draw option in my deck is Shakedown which proved being a great card.

  • Guys who want a diamond card in their Aggro Deception decks, think about Shakedown unless it costs too expensive! DYOR however.

Shakedown can't deal damage as an Encumbered Looter, but it is more reactive and it draws two cards: with strength-stealers and numerous buffers, you control the creature with the most strength in 95%. It can win the match since it may draw a buffer you urgently need while your hidden creature is on the board already. It happens regularly. And it is never a completely dead card.

Strength-Slealers Are at My Service

So classical scheme "steal strength and kill" is still with me. I will keep treating Zombies, Aggro Light, War, and Nature in this way. 2 Bound by Her Will are ready to steal a numerous 1-strength creatures and those who weakened by strength-stealers.

For the same group of archetypes, I keep one Heroic Brawler. It often buffs echo cards and, in this way, saves them from Wildfire and all 1-damade spells. Alone on the board, it self-buffs to 6/6 at the end of turn. It keeps buffing friendly creatures even when it is paralyzed by order by Light.

If it's not killed, it turns a perfect creatures to buff and hide on the next turn.

Thus

I hope this deck has all advantages of both strength-stealing and hide-and-hit Deception sub-archetypes. Wish me to get a leggy on the next WR at last. 🙂 Comments are welcome!
