The Fifth Day of Halloween - Reveling

I will be the first to admit that I am infatuated with gadgets, trinkets, and what could best be described as doohickies. If the trinket happens to be a toy, or could even be considered toy like, then all the better.

One of my favourite snack/study breaks in college was to walk across the street to the convenience store and grab a Kinder Surprise. Or two. They were $0.99 CAD at the time. A Kinder Surprise is a hollow chocolate egg with a plastic "yolk" on the inside which contained a toy. The toys were pretty epic; they ranged from small wooden toys to larger plastic constructs with fly wheels for locomotion that had to be constructed after opening. They were a tonne of fun, and the chocolate was tasty too.

They're not available in the US, which makes me sad. There's apparently some law about not being allowed to sell a toy inside an edible product. I still have a box full of my Kinder toys from Canada.

In the recent past, however, the Kinder Corporation (or whomever makes the goodies) found a workaround; for their US audience, they sell a plastic egg in two halves, the first half is a gooey not-quite-chocolate-concoction, and the other half is the toy. These toys are not as good as the Kinder Surprises that are available everywhere else in the world, but they are at least something.

Of course, I found some that are Halloween themed, and I bought a couple. Or a few more than a couple. And even though they're not quite as good toys (that's nostalgia speaking), they're still pretty epic.

Today, I present to you on the Fifth Day of this Halloween Season, The Halloween Revelers. If Christmas can have reveling, so can Halloween.

If Christmas can have reveling, so can Halloween.

Of course it can! In fact, all holidays should involve reveling, don't you think? But especially Halloween. I can't believe this hasn't caught on before. Perhaps you'll start a new fad, @wwwiebe.

Hmm... the U.S. not wanting anyone to be set up for litigation by encasing a tiny toy inside something edible? Yeah, no. That is not happening here! Ha ha.

I'd love to design and market a Halloween Advent calendar. I'm sure there's something on Etsy, but being able to mass market one would be epic. I know I'd buy it!

Thanks for stopping by!
