Some Phototent Lightpainting

I picked up these trinkets in an online auction the other day. I was primarily interested in some Department 56 Dicken's Village ceramic houses - which I won - and these were included. Originally I had thought they were characters for the houses. It turns out that they are not.

I'm not sure I really have a place for them in the house, but I do like them. They'll probably end up with some other trinkets that I have that make some really fun photography props.

I took these in a photo light tent and used camera settings of 25 seconds and f/25. I have a penlight that I used for a lightsource. In all cases I only used the light for maybe 5 seconds of the 25 second exposure; any more than that and the photo looked like it was only a few feet from the sun.

The penlight also has a laser pointer, which I used to light the Ghost of Christmas Present's torch. He's a jovial looking fellow.

Truth be told, I don't like this Ghost of Christmas Past. The photo is fine; I don't like the prop.

But one can never go wrong with Tiny Tim and Bob Cratchet.

Great idea, what camera were you using? It looks like the focus is off a bit, I turn mine off once focussed so the lens doesn't hunt in the dark :-)

Thanks! I was using a Sony NEX C3. I thought I had hit the focus, but should have been using a tripod and a 2 second shutter release.

Glad you liked them! I'll need to find something fun to do this with again, with improvements. :)
