You know, I've been to DC several times over the last few years and have not had the opportunity to really do a deep exploration of it. In fact I had just started using a metro card and figuring out the metro when Covid broke loose and kept me from traveling at all, so the card sits unused in my wallet.

It is one amazing city, honestly. I don't use the Metro that much. If in town, I walk everywhere or Uber if it is far enough. I have been known to hop a bus, although that is the least common denominator in my book, it is always fun when just exploring. :) I have taken the wrong bus before. Ha!
I have my Metro Pass and VRE keeping each other company in my wallet. However the Metro card does expire, so you may want to check that and you can always transfer to another card. Or frame it. :)
