Music Advent 2021 - Day 4 - Silent Night
Today's song is Silent Night by Frieda Hempel, recorded in 1919.
There were a surprisingly large number of Christmas themed songs recorded for the Edison phonographs. Thomas Edison himself was very protective of his phonograph and was the final arbiter over which songs were allowed to be recorded and distributed. He did not like the new jazz music of the time, so there are very few jazz recordings on Edison discs, but feel good Christmas music is something he would have encouraged.

Is that you speaking?
Yes, that's me. I was looking for something somewhat different to do. I'll admit, too, this is completely outside of my comfort zone. It's good to do.
You got a nice voice.
Thank you!
