WHAT ACTIONS DO YOU THINK ARE NEEDED IN YOUR LOCAL AREA?

This is my entry to the ecoTrain #QOTW which is something that I have been looking forward to share my thoughts with a large audience. This is an opportunity to share my thoughts about the changes that I think should be effected in my local area.

First and foremost, there is a saying that success is not all about the wealth that a person have in his or her possession but true success is about the number of lives that a person have positively impacted. In this light, I'd love to see a lot of lives impacted positively in my local area by getting engaged in one lucrative business or the other.

I see able-bodied men and women lazying around on the streets, forming circles to have non-productive discussions at the time when most people are rushing to get to work early. It is a problem that I have recognized overtime and I feel it is what groups of individuals can proffer reasonable amount of solutions to. The government have failed to provide employment for the people and this has killed so many dreams in the country and made so many people give up on the country.

I feel that there will be a huge result if people in the community volunteer to teach some of the unemployed people in the community who are willing to learn a handwork of their choice. In order to give room for the persons who do not have enough money to pay for learning, the cost of learning can be slashed by the facilitators or even teach some for free. The training could be summed up to 3 - 5 days or more. Some of the handwork that people could be trained on include cake making, furniture making, sewing, hair making/barbing, make up and tying of gèlè etc.

On the completion of the training, the participants may work under the supervision of their facilitators for some months to gain more experience before they become independent.
