GOOD SLEEP = OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE

It is important for your health to always have a good night sleep. It is as significant to you and your overall well-being as eating healthy and physical fitness routines such as exercising. Sadly, there are numerous hindrance to a normal sleep routine. So many people find it difficult to sleep in the night, and this mean they may constantly fail to meet up with the average number of sleeping hours in a day.

Sleep is important for the body after the day's work in order to reset the body in preparation for the next day's work. Just like machineries, for instance, if a machine works in the factory for too many hours in a day without resting, it may breakdown. While I was growing up, each time I'm using the blender in the kitchen, due to the fact that I want to get the kitchen duties done as soon as possible, I'd not allow the blender to stop for some moment. On this particular day, my mother was in the kitchen and she observed the way I was using the blender. She told me I was going to "kill" (spoil) the blender if I continue using it in that manner. This actually instilled in me the need to pause and rest.

There is a lot going on in our lives. There are so many things we've got to think about as an individual. We run from pillar from post during the day, making efforts to find our daily bread. Some people forget to eat breakfast or lunch or even both all in a bid to put food on the table. In busy states in Nigeria like Lagos, some people leave the house as early as 5:30am and will not be back home until about 11pm. In situations where both parents are caught in this web, it means they'd have to start cooking dinner at that time. Some even doze off in the dining room due to extreme fatigue. The best gift everyone can give to themselves each day is a good night sleep.

Inadequate sleep can have a negative effect on the human brain and this means their will be a decline in concentration and productivity. This reminds me of those days in school where I spend the night watching movies and I have to attend a class in the morning. I spend most of the time in the class dozing with my eyes closing as I try to force it open. I find it difficult to concentrate during the lectures to the extent that I may be unable to take notes. I may have to get the notes of my friends after lectures or during my spare time to photocopy. Good sleep is very significant to being productive.

In order to sleep healthy, it's advisable to have a regular sleeping routine, that is, go to sleep at the same time daily and get up each morning at the same time. Also, medical experts feel your sleeping may be affected if you have a nap after 3pm, especially if it's too long. The one I constantly have issues with my man for is the fact that he's busy on his phone till late in the night, and he still press the phone when he complains he's unable to sleep. I'm like "you are complaining about not being able to sleep and you're pressing your phone?" Get ready for a long sleepless night, then. It is better to stay away from your gadgets in order to get a good sleep.
