This is my entry for the ecotrain question of the week. Thanks to @ecotrain for always asking thought-provoking questions that demands some deep thinking that improves one's knowledge about happenings in the world. Let's get to this week's business...

Karma can simply be described as a cause and effect situation. That is, you can not reap what you do not sow or you reap what you sow. There is no man that plants rice and harvest orange - it is impossible. In other words, karma shows that everything that happens in our lives all happen for a reason. Karma backs up the fact that we are accountable for every of our actions, no matter how small it is, even though it may sound difficult or complicated to understand.

On the flip side, destiny, which is often used side-by-side with Karma has some sort of spiritual undertone. Destiny is predestined, that is, the choices you will make in life, the path that you will journey, and the outcome of your life decisions have been somewhat predicted by a supreme being. The supreme being (God) who has the power to see and know all things is aware of the the actions that you are going to take in life and its possible impact on your life as a whole.

God know the choices you are bound to make and it is not as if they interfere with your life, no. Every man have a freewill to say, or do anything they want. It is these choices that every individual make that define their lives. Some choices can look as if it is a curse but to others it's a blessing. Karma and destiny work together in unison and it is the more reason some people tend to use it interchangeably. Karma, the result of the action you make can define your destiny, either for good or bad.

A notorious criminal who was arrested and sentenced to prison after many successful operation may see the fact that he is arrested as a curse at first but after a while he will realize it is a blessing in disguise. In terms of karma, he is supposed to feel the pain he has inflicted on other people as he's serving his jail term, no doubt, that's what prisons are meant for, but he can change his destiny by having a rethink on how to be a better person. Karma has led him to change his destiny. Who knows what may have happened if he wasn't arrested (supposed bad karma for him), he may have been killed (the real bad karma) but he has the chance to change for better and live a new life devoid of criminal activities.

I will conclude this post by sharing the words of Ericka Williams, “You cannot do harm to someone because someone has done harm to you. You will pay just like they will.”
