Salt (2010): double agent

It's Saturday and it's a day for Netflix and chilling. Netflix knows what I like so they put up this movie "salt" when I read the little info it seemed really interesting so I hit the play button.

It's an American action thriller film written by Kurt Wimmer, directed by Phillip Noyce and starrs my all time favorite Angelina Jolie who plays Evelyn salt.

Synopsis:

It centers around Evelyn Salt who had stolen the identity of an American girl that lost her life in a car accident with her parents. The ambition was using the identity to get into the US as she was trained with other children in a Soviet Union to be Russian sleeper agents all with the aim of destroying the US.

In the process she gains her way through and becomes a CIA operative where she interrogates a Russian defector Orlov with CIA colleague Winter and counterintelligence officer Darryl Peabody observing. Orlov during his investigation states that Evelyn Salt was gonna assassinate the Russian president at the impending funeral of the US vice president.

The counterintelligence officer Peabody immediately orders that Salt be detained but she escapes and tries to phone her husband while traveling to her home evading the chasing CIA and police. On reaching her home, she realizes her husband Mike had been kidnapped and the house in a messy state; she quickly grabs a few supplies including weapons and a spider in a jar.

At the funeral, Salt shoots the Russian president (Matveyev) injecting the venom she had removed from her spider and the man is pronounced dead not knowing it was mere suppression causing Russia to seek revenge against the US. In the course of the drama, Russia mobilizes it nuclear arsenal in response to Matveyev's assassination and president of the US Lewis orders preparation for retaliation. Salt manages to kill Orlov and a few Russian sleeper agents and runs off to rescue the US president from the hands of Winter who had been a mole in the agency for a long time.

She fights with him and aborts the missile launch and is later arrested after winter identifies himself as the CIA. When salt is taken out, winter brings out a scissors which he was about to use in killing salt but she was smart enough and throws her chain around his neck jumping over the rail and killing him.

My opinion:

Though there's an extensive use of flashback, this film is top notch and really deserves a credit. Angelina Jolie really fits into the character of Evelyn salt. The different scenes, stunts/actions and uncovering of moles made the movie super interesting. The soundtrack, being a contemporary classical by original motion picture composed by James Newton Howard was great. I loved it and maybe you would too if you get to see it.

That's all from me, movie lovers. Till next till next time bye, bye.

You bet she did! She's a badass actor 😌. At the time of this movie, she just gave birth to twins but yet she was fit enough for the shoot and all the stunts she did. I love her so much
