Technology have been helpful in the development and growth of Spirituality - religion from time immemorial. In Christianity for instance, so many years ago Christians across the world spread the Gospel through scrolls but after some years through the innovation of Technology, Bibles were developed and today we can access our Bibles in our gadgets such as smartphones, laptops, and so on.

During the early days of Christianity and other religions that promotes spirituality, the leaders communicate with their followers through their voice only and with technology microphones and speakers have been introduced which makes preaching more easy. If you have ever communicated with a large crowd without using a microphone you'd understand the great problem that Technology have come to solve in Spirituality.

I could remember while I was growing up, anytime a famous Evangelist visits Nigeria and we were unable to attend, we'd not be too bothered because we can join the service through our radio set. But, these days Technology have made so easy that we can both listen and watch at the same time on our TV set the live sessions from churches. That is not all, online streaming platforms are also available for Christians to join other faithfuls to worship God.

During the lock down of the COVID pandemic, so many Christians didn't feel the impact of the pandemic too much because they were able to still go on with devotional services by joining the live streaming of their various churches. This is the impact of Technology on spirituality and it is a tool that ensured that most Christians didn't lose track of their faith during the tumultuous pandemic.

However, in as much as Technology have promoted the existence of spirituality in so many ways, it also has its dismerits. There is nothing that has a good side that doesn't have a bad side. Technology can be a form of distraction for someone that is trying so hard to concentrate especially in meditative spirituality like yoga. The sound of a phone call, or the need to check your notifications may make you concentrate less on your spirituality at the time you have set aside for it. Also, technology can poison your mind towards your spirituality when you come across different other contrasting practices on the internet. There are some views that may not be in line with yours that will make you lose track and derail from your life principles.
