Northern Light by Ministry of Cannabis

Hi everyone, today I want to tell you about a very famous genetic, namely Northern Light. Among the many genetics that already existed on the market in the past, I decided to try the one from the Ministry of Cannabis. Afghan origin, 100% pure indica, created in the late 80s.
I've grown it 2 times, the first time was to try it, while the second time I used different phenotypes as mothers to hybridize it with a Nigerian hermaphrodite! (I'll tell you about it in a post dedicated to my experiments as a breeder)
In this NL I found mainly 2 different phenotypes:
a small, robust one with rock-hard buds, with branches stiff enough to be unsuitable for techniques such as LST (low stress training). Surely she got it from her Afghan mother! Only a few plants of this phenotype can it be useful to make a topping, but it is one of the few plants that I have seen doing very well, perhaps better, grown naturally, without techniques of various types. In smoke it is strong, heavy, with a pungent and earthy taste, very pleasant. It breaks your legs, relaxes you completely and will definitely help you with insomnia.
The other phenotype, on the other hand, tends to grow taller, with branches that tend to stretch a lot and be less stiff. With this phenotype it is very useful to make lts and/or toppings! Even when smoked it is very different: less heavy, less indica, with more varied tastes and aromas that start from menthol and arrive at cedar or the scent of exotic fruit.

Day 37 from seed

Day 13 or flowering

Day 26 of flowering

Day 32 of Flowering

Day 39 of flowering

the day of the harvest

The Final Result

This plant, which represents the second phenotype, grew in a 100x100x200 grow room, very dimly lit by a 250w hps sylvania in a context with 6 other plants.
I don't remember if the vase was 12 or 15 litres.
As fertilizers I used the following: Root Stimulator, Terra Vega, Terra Flores, Pk 13/14, Green Sensation.
I paired the Lst technique with topping given the stretch that tends to have this phenotype after the light change to 12/12.
This plant, as I said, was in a growroom with 6 other plants, and it gave me 33grams of dried flowers despite using a scarce bulb and in its last moments of life. After this collection it was replaced by a 400w Hps.

Surely today there will be many better genetics than this on the market. But I've always liked to go and try the old genetics too, the ones that made history, the ones that have been used as mothers by many breeders, the landraces (albeit often not very convenient on many points of view).

Have a nice day
@weeedmann

fads sometimes come back lol
Genetics have evolved a lot in recent years.
Out of curiosity: if I ask you what is the best plant you have grown?
unfortunately my favoreites they are not present on the market.

I imagine that such ancient genetics, there are so many variations... Will there be an original, stable and safe one?
