Wednesday Freewrite - The Deadly Situation

(Edited)

No one warned me about the deadly situation I was walking into. I exited the taxi and paid the shady-looking taxi driver a crisp $20 bill.

He smiled graciously exposing teeth badly in need of dental care.
This hole-in-the-wall town didn't seem to be flourishing, and perhaps taxi driving wasn't lucrative enough to pay for all that dental work.

I arrived ten minutes to twelve for a 12:00 appointment. The doors were locked at the shop that was advertising jobs. I knocked on the door, first tentatively, then louder. It was chilly out and it looked like rain. I pulled my jacket up around my neck and pulled the hood up.

I looked around nervously. I didn't see any activity around this shop and I began feeling that maybe I made a mistake. I strained to see the taxi driver's car, but he was long gone with my $20. I wish I'd have requested that he wait before leaving, but thought of how the hand on the meter equals dollars of which I'm short on now. That was what brought me here in the first place.

Suddenly the door flew open. A man barked at me, "Come in now!"
I felt myself immediately recoil. I began to back away from the cracked door. Those crazy-looking eye's glaring at me from the door crack spelled out a desperate situation that I had no idea how to to get away from.

I pushed the door hard and screamed as loud as I could, turned and ran screaming as I ran and praying that thing couldn't run.
