Time to Sell & a Time to Buy

Good news came this week to my new husband, Jeff, and me. We've been vascillating over selling his house in town or investing in expensive repairs before selling. The house is large with three bedrooms and three stories. We don't need that much space since all we have is pets to worry about. The repairs involved removing paint on the exterior and repainting inside and out. We were planning on remodeling the bathroom, stripping the wood floors and refinishing them.

A friend of Jeff's knows someone looking to purchase a house in the area. He called Jeff many times in the past month and Jeff, because of timing, didn't call him back. We hadn't made our decision on what he wanted to do. Jeff had a dollar amount he was hoping to sell it for, but repairs were needed to ask that price. We prayed about this a number of times until one day I was in the shower and prayed that Jeff would call him back so we could move forward with our plans. Instead, in about fifteen minutes, the man, Bill, called and Jeff picked up this time. They decided to meet to show Bill and his wife the house last Sunday.

We cleaned all day that Saturday. Jeff called the man to let him know the price we agreed on before the meeting and advised we won't take less so he can pay off his mortgage and purchase this 5 1/2 acre plot with it's aged duplex with a rental outright.

Bill called Friday while we were at dinner to let Jeff know he and his wife want to buy the house and a small change to the price was negotiated to offset some repairs. Jeff is so relieved to be out from under that mortgage and no longer responsible for costly repairs. We can now begin with the purchase of this land that we rent. Eventually we will build our own home right out back where there is a little pond. It will soon be a frozen pond by the time we own it outright and are settled into our new financial situation. This is a great relief off of both of us!

It's a good decision as sometimes repairing cost is high and thus it's good to move else if possible as you already has buyer of it. Wish you best of luck for your new place.
