The Rich and the Richer
Some of the richest people I know own next to nothing. It boils down to what do you value? I'm not rich in worldly possessions, but I have enough; enough food, enough clothes, enough of a roof over my head. I can say we have money in the bank, a job and a vehicle, but what good would all this be to me if today the doctor informed me that I, or my husband or child had stage 4 cancer?
Suddenly, what I may have been saving up for, or waiting to achieve, will shift and I'd happily sell the things I own to purchase that health back.
I'm rich with love from family and friends. I count myself blessed to have a wonderful support group and some of the best people I could ask for standing by me.
Are you struggling to get rich believing happiness will show up when your bank account registers a certain sum? Will you achieve your best life when you reach a set goal?

I am happy to have the things that I have but I would love to have enough money to not worry about things. My husband's brother is rich and he is the cheapest man I know. He never married, has no kids, and has enough money that he puts it in overseas banks. He will not spend any of it. I do not understand him, my husband tells him that he is going to lose it all when he dies, he needs to enjoy it. Like you, we are rich in many other ways.
That is a very sad man indeed. We can't take it with us! I understand what you mean and there was many a time we had next to nothing as I raised my children, but somehow we survived and they grew up ok.
We were the same way, struggled, and worked our tails off just to keep food on the table and bills paid. We were renting from my stepdad and he would let us slide on paying the rent when times were hard, but we always made up for it.
I pray for young people these days. It's a challenge!

As much as I agree with you in one sense I also feel money is very important, at least these days money is freedom. I have to admit having money has made me much happier, it's allowed me to do things I never could of before, things that give me great pleasure and make me feel accomplished and Im not sure it would of been possible without money.
In saying that my life doesn't revolve around money and like you say the most important part is the friends and family you surround yourself with. It's just that money has allowed me to do things that make me feel fullfilled if you know what I mean :)
