Christmas my favourite time of celebration

Christmas is my favorite time of year. There is something magical about the twinkling lights, festive decorations, and holiday cheer that fills the air. This Christmas, I am eagerly awaiting to spend quality time with my loved ones and connecting with family and friends over meaningful conversation, laughter, and new memories.

My family always hosts a big Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve. My parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins will all be there. I cherish this special night as a time for us all to come together from our busy lives and catch up face-to-face. The kids will play while the adults prepare a delicious home-cooked meal, like my grandma's famous honey glazed ham and my mom's cheesy scalloped potatoes. Over dinner, we'll talk, joke around, reminisce about past holidays, and celebrate being in one another's company. After we eat, we'll sing carols and maybe even dance around the sparkling Christmas tree. The night always fills me up with so much love and gratitude.

On Christmas morning, I'll wake up early and drive over to my parents' house with a thermos of hot chocolate. My little nieces and nephews will be so excited to open presents while us adults watch on with amusement, reminiscing about when we still believed in Santa. We'll spend the lazy morning lounging by the fireplace in our pajamas, enjoying cinnamon rolls and hot drinks. Maybe we'll watch a classic Christmas movie too. It will be a relaxing, low-key gathering centered around quality bonding.

In the evening on Christmas Day, my best friends and I have a tradition of going to our favorite bar downtown for some holiday cocktails by the fire pit. We call it “Friendsmas” and it's become one of my most anticipated events of the season. We'll exchange small gifts over gingerbread martinis and catch up on everything new in our lives. I cherish these friends who feel like family, and I look forward to making more special memories together this Christmas to carry me into the new year.

Whether it's cozy family meals, lazy mornings by the fireplace, or festive evenings out with friends, connection is at the heart of all my holiday plans this Christmas. More than the twinkling lights, gifts, or cookies, what I look forward to most is quality time-shared with my favorite people. Over food, drink, laughter, and memories made, I'll enter 2024 feeling grateful, replenished, and filled with love. This is what the holiday season means to me.
