Glory and deception - My games in the HiveChess Tournament

Chess is still quite active in HIVE, today we played the third round of the Friday tournamentSorganized by @stayoutoftherz, this time I leave with a bittersweet taste and is that almost "almost" managed to win the tournament but in the last rounds I had several setbacks that cost me the championship, in the end I got third place which is not bad but I leave with the feeling that I could have done even more, however this still continues and anything can happen, this is a great opportunity to keep learning and improving I will try to accumulate good results in the upcoming tournaments.

@samostically was the winner, curiously I have not been able to play a game against him in any of the hiveches tournaments so far I hope to face him soon xd, @cocacolaron was positioned in 2nd place with whom by the way I got a score of 1 to 1 against him, a win and a loss.

@realdeadleaf got an excellent 4th place, I must say that our game was decided by a blunder from him since his position was quite good and I didn't really get much in the opening.

@sawko this time got a 5th place, quite far from his usual throne but it seems to me that it was a product of the match play, he repeatedly faced very strong players, in our game I got material advantage but I could not finish due to time problems and a perpetual check ended the game in a draw.

Let's take a look at some of my games

Today we played a 7+0 tournament which is a quite reasonable time, also this makes the bersek easier but anyway the game is quite extended and in an arena tournament this can be a bit detrimental, even so I tried to play as fast as possible to score more points, sometimes this strategy worked well, sometimes not so much xd

Sawko played his usual Indian king attack but at this moment things did not go so well, his pieces are badly placed and the activity of the black pieces is dominant, after the move 15...)d5! white cannot avoid the loss of material, the game continued with 16)exd5 Qxd5 17)Nfd2 Qe6 18)Bb2 and with my move b5 black simply has a decisive advantage. After a few more moves, I almost ran out of time and had to give this perpetual check in the final position, a bit disappointing but that's blitz.

Well, in this game I overlooked a basic tactical issue and lost the game. The position is really balanced, black is about to finish the development and there doesn't seem to be any concrete threat or problem.

White played 12)Ne5 with which I responded with the natural 12...)Nxe5 and here comes White's attempt, 13)Bf4 pinning the knight, I simply had to move the queen to a safe place and let the recpture on e5 with which the game would continue normally, for example, taking the queen to b4 seems interesting but I made the terrible mistake 13...)Bb7?? and White simply won a piece on e5, 14)dxe5

@vjap55 vs @realdeadleaf

As I said at the beginning, in this game I got almost nothing in the opening, my opponent played quite well and I considered his position very playable. In the diagram above my opponent had a blunder and gives away the knight, but I think this ending should be a draw, the c4 pawn can't advance so easily, in fact the bishop blocks this advance very well, maybe 26...)Nb6 27)Bd3 Bc5 and I don't see how White can progress.

I liked this game very much, it shows the tenacious defense, white seems to have some initiative on the kingside but everything is controlled, although I have a very passive knight on f8 it defends the structure very well and prevents any sacrifice on g6.
Things are well controlled on the kingside so I can play freely on the queenside 26...)Nb4 27)Bb1 c5! a good move that attacks the center directly and creates a lot of mismatch, if White takes on c5 Black could continue with d4 and the center would be totally dominated by the second player. The game continued for many more moves and in the rush of time I was able to win.

I'm trying to think what happened in this game, I had an incredibly good position from the beginning, I think I talked too much and I ran out of time very fast, at this moment for some strange reason I got paralyzed, I had a lapse, I thought I lost a piece or something but the truth is that my position is still pretty good, I rushed a lot of time and my clock reached zero.

Gentleman, this is just an extra rook, I have no idea how I lost this... the worst of it is that if I had won this game, which was the logical result of having an extra rook, I could have achieved more in the tournament.

Well these were some of the most interesting moments I played in this tournament, leave me in the comments how was your experience in this tournament, do you have any game to analyze?

See you tomorrow at the @schamangerbert tournament, on Sunday at the chess brothers league (@chessbrotherspro) and at monday in the checkmate coin torunament hosted by @hive-129589
