I can't wait for the next Hive Creators Day in Valencia again!

So, I had big planes for this post, like I try downloading Filmora and everything for editing a video but those were dreams, dreams of a person without a stable internet connection and I decided I will not let that get in the way anymore of me posting content, I'm done feeling so frustrated and depress because of that, that I end up unable to post the content I want to cause I can’t make it the way I wanted. So, here we go…

Like I said before I used to live in the city of Valencia in the Carabobo state of Venezuela and then… I fell in love and moved to Jumanji cause that is what love does to you, anyways, my younger sister was having my new nephew on the firsts day of this month and I had to travel back to what turns out the city I really like, I used to hate it back when I was living in it, I wanted to live in our country’s capital (Caracas), now that I live in Jumanji I have come to appreciate what I used to have =( but this post is not about that, while I was “planning” (I never plan anything I suck at making plans in advance I always end up doing everything on a last-minute notice) I thought well I know a lot of hivers are from my home town I actually work pretty close giving classes and teaching new hivers with a pretty crazy but awesome girl @soy-laloreto and I wanted to meet her and all the other Hivers from my town in person.

I had the experience of meeting other hivers in the city I currently live (el Tigre, in the Anzoátegui State) and I loved it! And since I know the mastermind behind @hivecreators that is @samgiset and I have seen what she was able to do with the @hivecreatorsday meetups in our city, I asked her to help me do something like that in Valencia, I wanted it to be more than just a meetup to say hi to the other Hivers, I wanted it to be an opportunity for all to learn a little bit more about Hive and to maybe answer some questions they may have (not that I know it all, but if I don't have an answer I know who to ask about it!) and that is how it was born the idea of the Hive Creators Day – Valencia.

The Preparations

Now I'm going, to be honest, when I told Sam and Natalia (@soy-laloreto) I was going to Valencia and I wanted to do something there, we had a general idea of what we wanted to do, but we didn’t have any sponsors or money really to do much, so we weren’t like looking for a big event, also this was supposed to be the first one done in a different state than where we are living so, doing some planning from afar is not like the easiest thing to do.

We decided it was going to be something simple and easy without much fuss, focusing mostly on the knowledge share than the place or add-ons.

Then the proposal was approved and we had the money!! Lol not like a lot but we could offer a coffee break and some amazing prizes for the participants, so that was nice to have, Natalia helped get the prizes going to buy them and all, my job was to be in charge of the coffee break, all came together pretty organically, I was close to the bakery where we were buying the appetizers and Natalia was close to where the devices that we wanted to give out as prizes where cheaper.

Coffee Break

We wanted something really yummy but simple enough that we could transport that day easily, keep in mind this was a coffee break without coffee LMAO, well we didn’t have any coffee pots to carry it in and to buy them just for this event was going to be too expensive, so we went with just water, coke and ice.

For the food we had some pretty yummy pastry I love these cookies they are the best, and some appetizers fill with ham and cheese pretty yummy.

The location

Natalia and I were driving ourself crazy trying to figure out where to do this even, we end up coming with the idea of doing it on the museum of the city but the place was going through some renovations, then a friend of Nat recommended this book place pretty famous in the city but that we didn’t know had spaces for events as well, the place was pretty cheap and pretty accommodating, clean, spacious for the type of even we wanted to carry and all around perfect at least for this first try. That is how we ended up picking the Libreria Alegria space to do the event.

The schedule

Here is where we mess up, so, we had the opportunity to use the space all day from 8am to 5pm but we decided the event didn’t needed that much time, (we were so wrong) it was meant to be something quick for hivers and new users to interact and to give out some basic info about the blockchain, so we scheduled the event to go from 2.30pm to 5pm. Yeah, this was a mistake you can not speak about Hive in just 2 hours and 30 minutes, is just too little, but hey this was our first time we can learn from our mistakes and do better next time.

Talking to the Hivers

As always is nice to see @samgiset act as host she is such a pro in this kind of things and also watch her talk about 3speak that is her area of expertise, @enrique job was to talk about Hive and web 3 and omg he is such a philosopher lol he can go on about this subject for days and is amazing listening to him with such a passion talk about it.

Picture1.png

@soy-laloreto was in charge of talking about communities and the Hive ecosystem, it was my first time getting to know her in person yes her personality matches her voice (I have worked with her on different activities and had the opportunity to hear her talk before) she is fun and refreshing to be around! And her talk was informative and very on point, I love it!

My talk

I was in charge of talking about what your first steps on Hive should be, and here is where I think we made a mistake again, even tho the idea behind this types of events is to onboard new users, the great majority of the attendees were old hivers and so I had to change it a little bit in the spot cause I didn’t wanted to bored the old users with info they already knew and didn’t actually needed, so I talk about Hive what it was and mostly base my “talk” on answering questions they may had about our blockchain, from what stake holder is to how curations and how to be successful on hive works.

Later I had the opportunity to represent @nftshowroom and talk a little bit about it, this time we had a few artists amount us so was fun to answer their questions about the platform.

We are working on sending out some NFTs to the participants as a gift and to getting them started in owning Art.

I think in the future for my next event I will try and give another focus to my talks make it so that a newbie and an old user can both enjoy it and not get bored from listen to the same info they already know and also give out the important basic info a new user should learn.

A little hiver in attendance

My kid @juancarlosgp was eating ice-cream with his dad @yanco while the conference was going on but after they came back to pick me up and I took the opportunity to take pics and the photographer of the event took this cute vid of him.

The good and the bad

The good meeting amazing hivers and doing the event all for me was amazing, the bad the time we had, like I said we were only there from 2.30 pm to 5 pm and this made the ending of the event feel a little bit rushed (we were being asked to leave the place lol) I think any event like this should be done in a time-lapse of at least 5hours to give enough time for people to ask questions and to talk about the important topics of the blockchain.

DSC_0201.jpg

We were also planning this for too little time, we could have done better if we had more time, also some of our speakers were coming from out of town, (I was too but I got there a whole week before) they got there the same day of the event and since they were coming in a bus it was the whole nerve-racking thing to think they were not going to make it in time, so I would suggest not trusting the public transportation in Venezuela and travel at least a whole day before.

Gracias por compartir.

5 years this has been happening to me, it started here, around people that are still here. Homeland security has done nothing at all, they are not here to protect us. Dont we pay them to stop shit like this? The NSA, CIA, FBI, Police and our Government has done nothing. Just like they did with the Havana Syndrome, nothing. Patriot Act my ass. The American government is completely incompetent. The NSA should be taken over by the military and contained Immediately for investigation. I bet we can get to the sources of V2K and RNM then. https://peakd.com/gangstalking/@acousticpulses/electronic-terrorism-and-gaslighting--if-you-downvote-this-post-you-are-part-of-the-problem
