Quarantine in village 2020 - my process of doing black and white photography (series of photographs).
Thanks to @daveks for the idea and for the invitation to post in this community. Historically, I never post two versions of my works - I always try to have only one finished version, mostly black and white. But today I want to share with you some of the images, I photographed during a few days of quarantine in 2020, when the restriction of going out of apartments was too strict, but who can say me what I should do in a small village with the fresh air and empty spaces.
I walked with my camera every single day. The rural sun bath is the natural Vitamin D, plus vitamin C from the growing everywhere oranges and lemons - no doubts - sitting at home was kind of suicide for me.
Now a few words about photography.
During the process of photographing I almost always know that my image will be BW, so I don't even look at the colors of the specific scene. Much more attention I put on contrasts available and the geometry created by these contrasts additionally to the geometry created by the existing objects. You can see the blue sky here existing in a few images. There is no need to show this blue again and again if the colors of other constituents are not interesting or don't contain some additional needed for the whole story information.
and my lightroom workflow. as you can see, i increased the blacks in the BW version for the better contrast create by the shadows stripes:
And the last sample is about how to change the flat and boring image with a muted not "dirty" color and to create something minimalistic but more living.
Thank you for taking a look.
Appreciate you taking the time to make a special effort to post here in the Colour / Black & White community. As expected, the images are great! Looking forward to having you here once in awhile:)
thank you friend !
