My analog shadows - Entry for the Shadow Contest/SMASh (series of taken on film images).

The "Shadow" theme is very special and close to my photography style - I always use shadows in my images and include them as additional or the helping to the main subject accessorize. An accessorize or the environment - not too important how to call it, more important to use the shadow as the scenery geometry creator.
So I do with my film cameras as well, and more than this - when one of the film cameras is in my hands - I put my attention to the shadow even more often. There is a very popular expression about photography "Expose for the shadows, develop for the highlights" - the results of this phrase are very important when you're willing to retain details located in the shadowed place in the image. Personally, I love to leave the shadow clipped to black as they are in the sunny climate of my country. Black is black - no details at all!
Well, see for yourself :-)))

I found this broken bike tied to a pole and immediately got that it must be photographed. Look carefully at the shadow - it remained not broken :-) The power of the shadow in action.

All these images were photographed with my pocket Ricoh GR1s camera (see the image of the camera below) on a very old, expired Kodacolor 200 color negative film, which I decided to develop in the regular Black and White chemicals. There are two reasons for this high grain - the semi-stand developing process and the condition of the old film stored in bad conditions. But it's exactly why we (some of us) love film and old school process of taking images.
