Welcome to my Hive blog, a little art space. Today I want to share with you a small illustration as a practice, this drawing I had done a few days ago, maybe two weeks ago, but I forgot to publish it, lately I've been a little busy, and the time I spend between drawing and managing the blog has been reduced, but I still keep up to date and try not to neglect it, if I can assure you that at least 1 drawing a week I will upload 😊. I think that quality is more important than quantity, I hope you enjoy my work, I do it with love for you.

Next I show you the step by step of the development of the illustration.

Sean todos bienvenidos a mi blog de Hive, un pequeño espacio de arte. Hoy les quiero compartir una pequeña ilustración a manera de practica, este dibujo lo había realizado hace algunos días, quizás hace dos semanas atrás, pero se me había olvidado publicarlo, es que últimamente he estado algo ocupado, y el tiempo que le dedico entre dibujar y administrar el blog se ha visto más reducido, pero igual me mantengo al día y trato de no descuidarlo, si les puedo asegurara que al menos 1 dibujo a la semana subiré 😊. Pienso que importa más la calidad que la cantidad, en fin espero que disfruten de mi trabajo, lo hago con mucho cariño para ustedes.

A continuación les muestro el paso a paso del desarrollo de la ilustración.

Drawing development / Desarrollo ✏️

This technique consists mainly in making the drawing completely in grayscale or black and white, and then applying colors through multiple layers of tones. Here I wanted to draw a beautiful Elf taking a bath in a quiet night, adorned with the moonlight, which is reflected in the water taking violet tones.

Esta técnica consiste principalmente en realizar el dibujo completamente en escala de grises o blanco y negro, para luego aplicar colores a través de múltiples capas de tonos. Acá quise dibujar a una hermosa Elfa tomando un baño en una tranquila noche, adornada de la Luz de la luna, la cual se refleja en el agua tomando tonalidades violetas.

As always, we start the drawing with a sketch, we define the proportions of the drawing with all the details that compose it. This time I chose a profile pose, with a placid look and abundant wavy hair. In another layer I proceed to place a gray color as a base, and lightly shading some of the areas of it.

Como siempre, iniciamos el dibujo con un boceto, definimos las proporciones del mismo con todos los detalles que lo componen. Esta vez elegi una pose de perfil, con una mirada placida y abundante cabello ondeante. En otra capa procedo a colocar un color gris como base, y sombreando levemente algunas de las zonas del mismo.

In this step I was detailing a little more the expressions of the face, to the point where I stopped using the sketch layer. I am also continuously shading the different sections of the portrait and applying small areas of light. This process is slow and continuous so as not to darken too much.

En este paso fui detallando un poco más las expresiones del rostro, a tal punto donde ya dejo de usar la capa del boceto. Además voy sombreando continuamente las diferentes secciones del retrato y aplicando pequeñas zonas de luz. Este proceso es lento y continuo para no oscurecer demás.

When we already have a somewhat defined base where the shadows and highlights go, we begin to use the methods of blend, multiply and add, to achieve more contrast in the work, several layers are used, depending on how much contrast you want to achieve. When you get the desired result, we join all the layers to obtain a single drawing to which to apply the color. For this step we use the blending methods "color overlay" this tool will allow us to apply the color without altering the contrast of the work.

Cuando ya tenemos una base algo definida de donde van las sombras y brillos, empezamos a usar los métodos de mezcla multiplicar y añadir, para lograr más contraste en la obra, se usan varias capas, según que tanto contraste quieras lograr. Cuando obtienes el resultado deseado, unimos todas las capas para obtener un dibujo único al cual aplicar el color. Para dicho paso usamos los métodos de mezcla “superposición de color” esta herramienta nos permitirá aplicar el color sin alterar el contraste de la obra.

We continue using the blend overlay method, to paint the different parts of the design, I advise you to use the mask tool, so as not to go out of the drawing area. You can also use the blend add to highlight a little more those small areas of brightness that give more life to the drawing.

Seguimos usando el método de mezcla superposición, para pintar las diferentes partes del diseño, les aconsejo usar la herramienta mascara, para no salirse del área de dibujo. Además pueden usar a parte la mezcla añadir para resaltar un poco más esas pequeñas zonas de brillo que le dan más vida al dibujo.
