WHAT KEPT ME UP AND MOVING THROUGH THE NIGHT

Each of us has different concerns that keep us up at night; for some, it may be job, for others, worry, and for still others, it may just be an upcoming chore or deadline that needs to be accomplished. But when I considered what kept us up at night, the adage "a guy doesn't actually need an alarm to wake them up, the difficulties militating against them is enough to keep them awake" came to my mind.

In the past, I've stayed awake at night while others slept for a variety of reasons. As an example, during my undergraduate years in college, I typically stayed up late to study before and during exam periods so that I could learn as much as I could about the subject I was taking the exam on. Similarly, now that I'm a working adult, I've had a number of instances where I stayed up all night to complete different work tasks at night.

WHAT I DO TO STAY AWAKE AT NIGHT?

Although it's much easier for some people to stay awake after drinking coffee or other types of tea that promote staying active and awake, this isn't the case for me. I've realized that most of these norms don't work for me, so the same way sleeping pills don't make me fall asleep is how coffee can't stop me from falling asleep, and after identifying these personal differences in me, I've come to find a better way of handling that, which are:

  • Determination: The one thing that has always helped me the most when I need to stay up late to complete tasks is determination. Once I make the decision to stay awake, my mindset usually has the same effect as the drugs that would have made me do so. In the end, I stay awake because of my determined mindset and the anticipated outcomes I hope to achieve from the late-night work.
  • Dessert/Snacks: Having something to chew on as I work on the many tasks at hand is another thing that helps me stay awake. This is a really useful tool for me, so most of the time when I need to stay awake to complete activities, I buy snacks, gum, and anything crunchy to keep my mouth busy while I work.
  • Music: One more way I manage to stay awake at night is by listening to danceable songs. These songs can keep me awake while I sing along and move to the beat as they are all played. There have been times when I've worked late into the night and started to get bored, which led to fatigue, but whenever I play these active dancing songs, they usually brighten my mood.

With the points and characteristics mentioned above, I think we have all learned about my trick for staying up and active at night. If you're like me and find that drugs don't really stimulate what you want, then I think the information above will be very helpful to you.

Determination okay that counts but I don’t think the body will really understand that after a stressful day.

Oh GP, seems like we are in the same boat when it comes to what keeps us awake. I find it hard to sleep only when I know I have something to do and I'm ready to do it.

Taking snacks and listening to rock or hip hop music will help too but for me is mainly the determination to be awake.

Wow that's good to know we share this in common, that end result I envisioned just literally kept me up till I'm done, and that can be tag as a determination to achieve my goals within the stipulated time (night)

Yes, the determination to achieve a goal is what will motivate one to still open their eyes even when they should be resting.

Sure one must be determined to be able to stay awake at night because if not you will just see yourself waking up the next day😂. With determination and focus you will sure get done what you to fast.

That's absolutely correct, the place of determination can never be overemphasized, I've sed Cases where someone (my roommate) drank coffee to prevent sleep, but funny enough I wake up at midnight to see him sleeping. Hehehe.

Just like you coffee doesn't help me very much. I don't like energy drinks either because eventually they make me sick. Music has always been a very good companion which I rely on when am working late in the night.

That determination thing ehn.. Well, I am trying to work on myself to be able to wake up at night, even alarms sometimes do a bad job of waking me up. Most times with determination, I end up waking up by 6 am if I wanted to wake up at 12am..😪

But like I said, I am trying.. Or better still, how can I be able to wake up at night to do things effectively through determination?

When a man remembers his problem, no one will wake him up to night to do something. Also, determination can definitely help to stay awake through the night if one meant what he is doing.

The problems militating against man is enough to keep them awake, as they'll be worried on how to sort it out.

I stay up late all the time because it’s become a habit for me now. One that I’m trying to get out of. But mostly, I’m staying up to work on stuff, and until recently, that was mostly school stuff. I can’t seem to study seriously until a test is up, and that is when I stay up to study everything in one night. Dangerous, but works most of the time.

Won’t danceable songs be a little distracting though? I feel like if you like the song enough, you’re probably going to sing to it the entire time and have divided attention.

I have seen people who don't take anything at all but still stay awake all night, I think they have super powers or something.

Lolz it's not super power's, it just that our system doesn't shut down until we decided it's time for it to do so.

It'll shock you to know that since I'm off age and aware of things, I've never slept off while doing anything, I will radar stop work on that and make sure things are in order before I sleep.

DETERMINATION is very important in what so ever we might be doing and that is only what can allow us to achieve our goals
