LADIES OF HIVE CONTEST #74// IF I COULD CHANGE A PERSONALITY, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Hello everyone and all ladies of Hive, this interesting contest and topic got my attention and I decided to partake. Although this is my first entry to this community contest and I'm happy to do this topic: "If you were to change something about your personality, what would it be"

Well, as a female, I have some very interesting traits like being hardworking, God fearing, caring, supportive, and many more. But, there is this particular personality of mine that everybody around me dislikes including my family.
I'm a lady that can and is comfortable doing every other thing that is called a work or a duty apart from cooking in the kitchen. I'm very neat and organized but when it comes to cooking in the kitchen, I'm very lazy about it and uncomfortable.

WHY DO I HATE KITCHEN DUTIES?

If you're an African, you'll understand what I'm saying. So, as an African lady, while growing up, my mum and aunties always tell me, if you dont learn how to cook, you will be chased away from your husbands house. So as a woman, your duty is to cook.

I hated this conversation because I keep wondering, if my husband cooks in the kitchen, will he die?
It was very horrible because I expected everybody to know how to cook, like it's not a woman thing right?
So, my mum always imposed kitchen duties on me both washing dishes and preparing meals. I feel like, you meet a kitchen disorganized and plates scattered in the kitchen, both as a male and female, it should just be natural for you to keep the place in order and not it's a womans job so the guy should see it and pass but the woman must come back and do it. Seriously, it's so annoying.

So, this made me to hate cooking. Each time my mum called me out to cook, I always grumbled, cried and felt uncomfortable because I was called to cook, lol. So yeah, this became a habit till now that I'm 24. It's really sad. Not like I cry now or grumble, I just take it as a very hard thing to do. I can cook very well but I'm always lazy to cook.

I'm really happy my boyfriend doesn't take it personal, he cooks very well too, so we rotate the cooking but I guess he cook more.

Well, this is the personality I'll really love to change. I wish I can just go to the kitchen and cook without feeling lazy or hating, but very happy. I have good friends that love to cook and I just wonder how on earth can you love cooking, lol.
I'm not blaming anyone for this personality but I wish African parents could just train both the males and females the other way and not imposing some duties on each other. It should be something done with a happy mind, have care for each other and not saying "oh, you're the girl, you should be the one to cook". This made me to hate cooking.

So if I'm to change something about me, I'll change the fact that I hate cooking because it's really not going well with me.
When I have my own kids, I'll teach both male and female how to embrace cooking because some circumstances may come and you'll have to cook yourselves. You should know it and you should love it.
