A Well-Deserved Vacation: A 5-MInute Freewrite
"You seemed to be having a lot of fun," Vivian observed Fred, who was sunbathing on a beach in Boracay with a wide grin on his face.
"I sure am," Fred replied. "It has been so long since I was able to take a long vacation like this," he added.
Vivian considered it and realized it had been five years since their previous vacation.
"You're right," said Vivian. "I believe it's been five years?"
"Yeah, our business has kept us so busy over the last five years that we desperately need this well-deserved break," Fred explained.
Following that conversation, the couple goes for a swim in Boracay's clear blue water. They ate lunch at one of the local restaurants. After that, they went to a bar and partied all night.
Vivian awoke the next morning with a severe hangover. "I think I drank too much last night," Vivian grumbled, nursing her head.
She noticed Fred was missing as she looked to her side. He entered the room from the balcony before she could look for him.
"What exactly happened?" After noticing her husband pocketing his cellphone, Vivian inquired.
"Nothing much," Fred replied. "I got an international call from the manager updating me on what's going on at the company," he said.
"Nothing serious, I hope?" Vivian inquired.
"Just a routine call, nothing serious," Fred reassured.
The couple left the hotel after freshening up and eating breakfast to explore the island. They did not employ a tour guide since they did not want to be bothered. They then went to the beach in the afternoon to watch the sun set.
"This place sure is beautiful," Vivian murmured, her gaze fixed on the horizon. "We should come back here next time," she added.
"I completely agree," Fred said, agreeing. "Let's work hard so that we can play even harder."
