A Storm Approaches: A 5-Minute Freewrite

*Hammering noises *
It was midday, and he had been hammering the exterior of his house for half a day. The reason Luke was busy fixing things around his house was because he heard on the news that a strong typhoon was approaching their region. As such, he wanted to reinforce his house before the storm arrived.
"Hopefully, this will be enough," Luke said to himself as he wiped the sweat off his brows. Luke, who was at the top of the roof, looked around him and fell into deep thoughts.
"Luke, time for lunch!" A voice suddenly woke Luke up from his deep thoughts.
It was his wife, Mary, shouting at him to get down the roof as lunch was ready.
"Coming!" Luke yelled his reply.
While eating lunch, Mary asked Luke if he had fixed what needed to be fixed.
"Almost," Luke replied curtly. "I'll be sure to finish it this afternoon."
True to his words, Luke returned to reinforcing the house after resting for about an hour. After a while, he looked up and noticed the dark clouds hovering over his head.
"I should hurry," murmured Luke as he started hammering again.
Not long after, Luke was finally done reinforcing the house.
"The wind is starting to pick up," Mary said after returning from outside. "Hopefully, the house can withstand the typhoon."
"Don't worry, this house has survived countless typhoons before; I'm sure it'll survive this one too," Luke assured. "Besides, I already did a thorough check and fixed what needed fixing."
As the night deepened, so did the rain and wind. The typhoon has finally arrived.
The typhoon hammered on Luke's house savagely, which worried Mary a little, but with Luke's assurance, she started calming down. But as the night progressed, so did the typhoon, and yet the house remained standing, withstanding everything.
Once morning arrived, the couple noticed that the wind and rain were no longer as intense as yesterday night. Although the weather is still bad, it has become less intense.
Two days later, the sun finally peeked out of the clouds, signaling the end of the typhoon. Luke and Mary quickly went outside to assess the damage the typhoon had caused.
Seeing the house only slightly damaged, the couple let out a huge sigh of relief.
"All of that trouble was worth it," Luke said with a smile, referring to the effort he had put into reinforcing the house.
"It sure was," Mary agreed, glad that her husband reinforced the house, thus allowing them to get off lightly.
