One eventful week!! - My Accident Story

It's been couple of weeks that I have been off HIVE.. Sadly not for the best of reasons.. Have been running under depression and some major health issues since September.. The road to recovery just kept getting worse..

Doctor's suggested to travel for some days to get a distraction and so I planned on a road trip.. Everything went fine till I started zoning out again for a week which also lead into a major mishap..

"A devastating car accident which I survived"

Will share the pictures some other day as I don't want to go through that trauma again.. But, let me just say I'm glad to be alive as of today!!

So I was on a crazy road trip where I was covering few destinations across India.. I reached Chennai (about 700 odd kms from where I stay) and attended a biker's meet.. After spending about 3 days in Chennai, I headed down to Bangalore to celebrate my younger sister's birthday.. I was supposed to move to a different location but my health started getting a bit worse.. I had some heart issues and have anxiety problems.. Hence decided to head down to Mangalore (My hometown) and get it checked with my doctor..

I took the drive easy and split it into 2 days.. On the second day just 100kms before my home, I met with a crazy accident that has now left me in a terrible state.. Luckily it was a TATA car and hence I'm alive..

Now I was driving at 100kmph which is definitely high speed for me.. I was going on a straight road when a rickshaw (auto) decided to perform a drift in front of me and stopped right at the centre of the road.. I swayed left to avoid hitting into him and realised there was a Jeep parked on the hard shoulder with couple of men standing out of it and a family with kid inside it.. I had to take a complete left turn to avoid ramming into the jeep and decided to risk my life alone and hit the street pole on the side..

Now this accident happened at 6:20am.. And yeah, who thought there would be people outside.. I'm just glad I missed hitting the auto as well as the jeep and not killing or injuring any of the people there..

So I hit the pole at above 100kmph and for those who want to ask why I didn't break, well, it was raining and so the road had mud and I didn't get any traction while applying break.. I was a sitting duck inside my car and did what at that point I felt was the best..

After hitting the pole, I immediately got out of the car and realised that I hit a transformer pole.. (Yeah, f**k my life).. The grounding hit the bottom of my car and in no time my car started catching up fire.. All I could think of that time was somehow save my car.. I started throwing water from the bottles I had in my car and knew it wasn't sufficient.. Just when I lost hopes and almost began to cry, some of the people from around pointed towards a water pump on the opposite side of the road.. Was immediately able to arrange for some buckets and put of the fire before it got worse.. Now I don't know if the fire touched the engine.. Hoping it didn't but need to wait till the car doesn't reach the service centre..

The impact was bad and I had zero cooperation from the cops.. They just wanted me to pay them $525 and take my car and go to Mangalore and file a case there.. If I do this, I would loose insurance claim.. I somehow managed to argue and make sure an FIR was registered and had to tow my car to the Police station..

Now I still have to go through a court hearing to release my car from the station and get it to Mangalore to fix it up..

What was interesting was that the people supported the cops, made sure the rickshaw guy disappeared from the scene and were almost threatening me not to file a case.. But all said and done, I still managed to file a case..

Health wise I'm fucked up.. I have a wrist and arm hairline fracture on my left hand.. A ligament tear on my right arm.. Oh, to top it off I managed to screw up my back to the worst condition possible.. I have a few ruptured disk and an old crack on the spine has been hit again.. As of now I'm supposed to be on a hospital bed taking treatment for the spine.. But I would need to be financially strong for that and as of now it's not possible as I haven't been working since September due to my health issues.. All savings have gone previously on medical and recently on the road trip..

Hopefully earn enough in this week by posting so that I can start my medical treatment.. As of now used a jugaad method and surviving on a 3 layered belt for the back bone.. Hopefully I get my car back to Mangalore before I get admitted..

I normally don't like posting about these, but thanks to my present financial crisis, HIVE is the only platform I can earn some money from.. So the next few posts will be on recovery or road to recovery.. Will try and do some photography posts soon..
