Do not enter: Scooby-Doo, but without the đ. [Eng/Esp]
Hello, film lovers!
I hope youâre all well. Iâve recently started my holidays, so Iâve had time to watch the films and series Iâd been meaning to get round to; most of them are horror films, as Iâm a huge fan of the genre, so today Iâm here to talk to you about a horror thriller called Do Not Enter.

The story follows the âCreepersâ, a group of young urban explorers who make a habit of illegally breaking into abandoned or off-limits sites to film them, upload the footage to YouTube and gain followers. But following the failure of their latest video and the departure of one of their members, they decide to take a risk and head to a place thatâs not only off-limits but also has a history steeped in evil: the ParagĂłn Hotel.
A building with a legend linked to the mafia, murders, ghosts and a treasure worth millions of dollars. There, they will not only have to face a rival group of psychopaths, but also a creature seeking to complete an ancient ritual using one of the groupâs members.

I liked the start of the story, because it blended supernatural horror with adventure and a touch of Indiana Jones, with the theme of fortune hunters. It features a diverse group of young people, each with a defined role within the group: Rick as the leader, Diane as second-in-command, Cora, who is athletic, and Vernon, who films everything. Theyâre later joined by an adult called Frank, whoâs quite protective of the youngsters.
The reason for the postâs title is precisely because of this group; they looked just like the Scooby-Doo gang, only without the dog, ha ha ha. They even had a van, and they made a joke about the Mystery Machine and Scooby-Doo. I mean, for goodnessâ sake, a group of young people travelling in a van to visit haunted places â it was like watching a âhorrorâ version of Scooby-Doo.

But, as I was saying, the story got off to a good start and the hotel was absolutely terrifying. The ladsâ plan was just to film the place, until they stumbled upon a group of psychopaths searching for the fortune of a mobster whoâd passed away in that very hotel. Meanwhile, one of the group members, Diane â âthe Daphne of the groupâ â ends up being kidnapped by a creature that had been locked away in the hotel. At the same time, the real reason why Frank joined the group is revealed.
But from that point on, loads of things stop making sense, like when someone is thrown from a great height and is still alive as if nothing had happened (that actually happens in the film), and then a whole host of clichĂ©s and nonsensical sequences kick in that had nothing to do with the pace and direction the story seemed to have at the start. For a creature reveal thatâs wasted and a whole host of illogical decisions â in other words, it was all down to a ritual from some weird book that makes no sense at all. And it all happens so quickly that by the time you reach the end, you find yourself asking: âWhat on earth did I just watch?â.

In fact, the ending makes it feel as though the film was made to kick off some weird Scooby-Doo-style franchise, but with such a poor start, it just doesnât workâand even less so with that haunted volcano bit at the end. It was awful, but its incoherence kept me entertained for at least an hour and a half.
