I don't know how some videos end up in the feed, but sometimes the algorithm really does its job. That's how i came across a clip in which some people jump, spin in the air, and hit a ball as if they were in a martial arts movie. At first i thought it was a joke or choreography. Then i found out that the sport really exists and is called sepak takraw. And honestly… I had no idea that such a thing was possible.
The sport in the video looks like a combination of tennis/volleyball and martial arts. It's technical like a net sport, but explosive like a martial arts workout.
What impresses me the most is not just the force of the shots, but the incredible control he has in the air. Every rotation seems calculated to the millimeter, and the synchronization with the ball is almost unreal. This is not just training, it's discipline taken to the level of art.
I honestly don't know, but if someone had shown me these sequences without context, i would have said they were stunts from an Asian movie. The way they jump, spin and hit the ball seems like something straight out of an action movie. The difference is that here everything is real and repeated with incredible naturalness.
What first struck me (figuratively, fortunately) was the speed. Everything happens so fast that you get the impression that the ball is being controlled by a remote control. The players jump to ridiculous heights, turn in the air and hit the ball with a precision that makes no sense to the average person.
If I try to kick a ball, i think twice about breaking my ankle. They do spin jumps and send the ball exactly where it needs to be.

I don't know if i'll become a fan, but i'll definitely be looking for more clips. It's the kind of sport that makes you look twice, pause, rewind and wonder how it's possible. And for someone who had no idea it existed, sepak takraw is one of the most exciting recent discoveries.
