Rock Classics edition #44 - been 8 months

The Rock Series had an even longer break this time

Life keeps me buy, my work on the chain to manage and curate music community in general plus my work in the Rabona team keeps me busy, usually I write mainly about electronic music - even here I am behind any plans to do a post per daily tag - my #Rockclassics series suffered worse - so let me try to post edition 44 now after 8 months silence, haha!

Today - German Metal history - ACCEPT

While the entire world outside Germany considers Scorpions as the kings of German metal I can tell you one thing, they are boring, their music is total mainstream, they are not cool and I do not like them, I appreciate the Schenker guitar style though but all the rest is even worse as Modern Talking - the Germans might understand what I mean :-). But I accept if folks like this other band named around horiscope / starsign stuff even I do not understand it. Here comes a real great German metal rock band - ACCEPT.

It wasn't until Accept's fifth album, 1983's Balls To The Wall, that they had great commercial success and worldwide attention. But their earlier albums were even better, especially 1982's Restless And Wild. Accept combined power and speed with melody and the distinctive vocals of Udo Dirkschneider. Udo is no longer in the band, but Accept continues to be very successful.

Accept

I bought my first Accept vinyl album indeed in 1983 and first was shocked by the voice of Udo, the lead singer but simultaneously excited about their sounds and it was worth the spend of 19,99 Deutschmark.

Some official details in the following shortened from Wikipedia - you might note and realize they also did this wave of rock bands of the 80ies to split, re-join, split, re-join again etc - however the great songs stay!

Accept is a German heavy metal band from the town of Solingen, formed in 1976 by guitarist Wolf Hoffmann and Udo Dirkschneider (vocals) and Peter Baltes (bass). Their beginnings can be traced back to the late 1960s, when the band got its start under the name Band X. Accept's lineup has changed over the years, which has included different singers, guitarists, bassists and drummers. Their current lineup consists of Hoffmann, vocalist Mark Tornillo, guitarists Uwe Lulis and Philip Shouse, drummer Christopher Williams and bassist Martin Motnik. Hoffmann has been the sole constant member since its inception, and he is the only band member to appear on each album. Then simply a lot blablabla.
