WE #150: My thoughts about Homeschool based on my experience.

Children and students throughout the globe were among those impacted as the illness of Covid-19 spread widely. My kid was in kindergarten at the time, and I was enrolled in the first year of the college's bridging program. We had no choice but to pursue online learning while the country was under a state of lockdown. The good news is that we have a reliable internet connection at home, and both of us have been able to use my aunt's old laptop since it is still functional. Luckily, my kid was one of the pupils who received school materials and a tablet to utilize in the online course when I enrolled him in first grade.

But here's some of the challenges...

Our whole family stayed at home throughout the epidemic. My two brothers were each taking online classes while my sister worked from home. Sadly, our Dad also lost his work, which made him stay at home constantly gloomy and irritable since he had no money. We had some difficulties since we were concentrating on our own issues at the same time. We don't have our own rooms where we can do our business in private since we aren't that wealthy. As a result, when taking an online class, we all almost got into a fight due to the volume of our voices. Additionally, there are times when we are all together and I nearly don't know how to fit into my studies. My kid truly needs a tutor while doing the online course since he isn't that proficient at typing on his tablet just now. I'll teach him again how to turn in his homework when his class is over. During the pandemic period, life was really challenging, and I often felt sorry for myself. Imagine that I don't get much sleep since I have to complete more homework after my online class. My life revolves around eating, sleeping, going to online school, instructing my kid, and doing housework during that era.

We also had to figure out how to manage working and studying while homeschooling since there were houses being built at the time. I'm not sure whether I should thank them, but my siblings and I were under a lot of stress while our home was being fixed up since we couldn't satisfy the construction workers. Because it was already summer and they believed it would be best to have the home fixed in order to prevent the typhoon at the time, our Dad's siblings made the decision to have the house renovated. Ah, I remember when my laptop sometimes got wet when I took an online course due of holes in some parts of the roof in our house. See? At the time, life was really difficult. I'm literally sobbing right now while I typing this...

But I've only proven one thing. Homeschooling is not appropriate for all students. Some pupils fail to grasp the teachings and need the teacher's careful attention. There are those who can learn by using the Internet. For me, it is acceptable to reinstate the homeschool option, particularly in our country, since it has been shown that the reintroduction of face-to-face instruction is ineffective for all pupils. May this request reach major corporations and bring the virtual classroom back into existence.

That's a wrap!

Thank you for reading this blog. This will be my entry for the 150th writing suggestion created by @galenkp.

I totally agree with you, homeschooling isn't for everyone. It requires a lot of focus and energy. I have been homeschooling my daughter from the very beginning. I needed to find the teaching method that best fits our family dynamics. It's not easy looking for a homeschooling provider that share the same values we hold . But once you find that one homeschooling method that fits, all the struggle is worth it.

Each child has their own personality. While some prosper in a one on one, face to face teaching, there are some that learn more in a small group or a classroom setting. To each their own, as they say.

Wishing you all the best in your studies as well as your little one's. :)

Sadly, the Department of education here in the philippines no longer allow the blended learning on the public sector. I just hoping they would make a way to consider again this blended learning soon especially now that children attend classes during a heat wave season.

Thanks for stopping by @romeskie ❤️
