Hispaliterario 6 | La historia de Lagrimita Pérez

Lagrimita Pérez es una cantante venezolana que fue muy famosa en los primeros años de la década de los 90 por lanzar una exitosa versión en español de la canción “Pata Pata” de Miriam Makeba, una época dónde las canciones más exitosas, podían sonar hasta un año en las principales radio estaciones, solo con su debut logró el anhelado “Hits Wonder” y giró a lo largo y ancho de toda Latinoamérica, causando especial sensación en países como Ecuador, Perú y Bolivia.

Por arte de magia Lagrimita desapareció de la escena musical sin dejar rastros, muchos medios de comunicación hacían eco de una noticia de dudosa fuente; fue internada en un hospital siquiátrico tras el desequilibrio mental que le causó el acoso de un seguidor obsesionado, nada más alejado de la realidad, pues, en su sueño por alcanzar la fama, la novel cantante firmó un contrato de exclusividad con un famoso sello discográfico, con unas condiciones tan absurdas, como que, su representante, un millonario empresario, tenía el poder de detener su carrera, bajo, y solo bajo sus criterios, cualesquiera que estos fueran, no había derecho a cuestionamientos.

Hace un año, Lagrimita recibió una noticia agridulce a través de una carta, el temido magnate que la sentenció había muerto de un ataque al corazón, el heredero quiso dar un nuevo rumbo al negocio familiar y dejó en libertad a más de 30 artistas que habían sufrido vetos a lo largo de la gestión de su padre.

Un híbrido de emociones invadieron a la artista, fueron muchos años donde se le negaron oportunidades, años dónde soñaba con ir a las galas de los premios internacionales y tuvo que conformarse con verlos por televisión, sin embargo, ahora es libre, acaba de cumplir 54 años, pero tiene mucha energía acumulada y pensar en un regreso, más que asustarla, enciende una gran chispa emoción en su interior.

Un día se levantó con ánimo, una sensación de buenos augurios, su intuición pintaba un camino de laureles, ejercicios de visualización muy placenteros, era momento de volver, podría salir mal, aun así, hubo una decisión firme, un nuevo intento.

Contactó con un representante independiente, uno de los que contaba con mejor reputación, responsable de parte del éxito de artistas como; Olga Tañón, Pedro Capó y Lasso, sus honorarios no eran de Black Friday, pero Lagrimita estaba comprometida a cumplir sus propios deseos.

El gurú en cuestión era, nada más y nada menos que, Andrés Alonso Alcázar, el Rey Midas de la música, quien sorprendió al no negarse a la petición de Lagrimita, pues, recordó esos momentos en los que, siendo muy joven, lloraba de risa al ver a sus compañeros bailando el “Pata Pata” en los actos de fin de curso del colegio. Así que agendó el encuentro y en un gesto amigable, preguntó a la cantante por su marca café favorito.

Llegó el tan esperado día…

Andrés se sorprendió al ver a Lagrimita muy bien conservada y expresó: ¡Qué honor, ni Madonna se conserva tan bien, pareces un vino, no cualquiera, el más especial de Escocia!

— Tengo mucho tiempo esperando mi momento en el banquillo, quiero volver y me he preparado para ello. Respondió Lagrimita.

— Me gusta esa respuesta, suenas convincente, es que dejaste una huella, aún en las fiestas retro del mundo se baila el “Pata Pata”, es el himno de una generación.

— Gracias, es un placer conocerte, y que hayas accedido a nuestro encuentro, parece obvio, aun así, lo diré, estoy aquí para que me representes, si es de tu agrado.

— ¿Qué quieres hacer?

— Quiero cantar, quiero contacto con el público, en grandes conciertos e íntimos recitales, quiero hacer videos, fotos, discos, me siento en un buen momento y quiero inmortalizarlo para el recuerdo.

— Qué bonita forma de hablar, se nota el arte en tus palabras, Uff… la industria ha cambiado, ahora estamos en el momento de la música streaming, la fórmula es tener mucha presencia, casi invasiva, la calidad de la música es algo importante, pero a la vez secundario, no sé si comprendes, hablo de lanzar una canción al mes, con una identidad muy marcada, un minimalismo audiovisual, sugerente en lo sexual. Hacer colaboraciones con otros artistas se ha vuelto un movimiento casi imprescindible, crear un personaje bohemio para las redes sociales vestido a la moda en escenarios de lujo, a su vez, abrazar una filosofía cínica, dejar el amor que es para siempre y el no correspondido por una noche loca, y vivir al límite del momento. Una balada tiene que ser muy buena para posicionarse, estamos en la era de bailar y frotarse sin pensar. Realmente hay público para todos, hasta para revivir a Rocío Durcal, pero todo lo antes mencionado es para conquistar a la masa.

— ¡Wow! Saldré un momento a tomar el aire y fumar un cigarrillo para procesar toda esta información.

Al llegar del receso, ya Andrés tenía un plan.

— Vamos a lanzar un show del recuerdo, un experimento para ver cómo responde la taquilla, ahora que puedes, haremos gira de medios para la promoción, el resultado dibujará tu futuro.

Así fue. Los boletos se agotaron en tres días, era el momento del siguiente paso, hacer una canción con su nueva imagen y presentarla ese día como el lanzamiento oficial de una nueva etapa en su carrera.

Para el proceso creativo, los productores fueron democráticos con las ideas de Lagrimita, ella quería probar el estilo urbano con matices electrónicos, cumbia, tribal y reggae, canciones de show con un lenguaje sencillo, apegadas a la fórmula de “Pata Pata”, un sonido que incite a bailar para usar redes como TikTok e Instagram, virilizar una coreografía, y así lograr que la canción suba como la espuma. Bajo esos lineamientos crearon la canción “Lagrimita de amor”.

El show del recuerdo fue todo un éxito, el proceso fue agotador, pero gratificante, Andrés aceptó representarla, y Lagrimita, a sus 55 años, estaba viviendo su sueño, era apenas el comienzo, vino después una temporada de mucho trabajo, canciones, vídeos musicales, entrevistas, presentaciones en televisión, viajes y mucho más, había dificultades, pero los buenos momentos eran mayoría.

Una noche, a pocas horas de bajar de un escenario, descalza, caminando a la orilla de la playa, escribió en la arena: “El tiempo de Dios es perfecto”. Lagrimita Pérez.

A hybrid of emotions invaded the artist, there were many years where she was denied opportunities, years where she dreamed of going to the international awards galas and had to settle for watching them on television, however, now she is free, she has just turned 54 years old, but she has a lot of accumulated energy and the thought of a comeback, rather than scaring her, ignites a great spark of emotion inside her.

One day she woke up with courage, a feeling of good omens, her intuition painted a path of laurels, very pleasant visualization exercises, it was time to return, it could go wrong, even so, there was a firm decision, a new attempt.

She contacted an independent representative, one of those with the best reputation, responsible for part of the success of artists such as; Olga Tañon, Pedro Capo and Lasso, his fees were not Black Friday, but Lagrimita was committed to fulfill her own desires.

The guru in question was none other than Andrés Alonso Alcázar, the King Midas of music, who surprised by not refusing Lagrimita's request, because he remembered those moments when, as a young girl, he cried with laughter at the sight of his classmates dancing the "Pata Pata" at the end of school events. So she scheduled the meeting and in a friendly gesture, asked the singer for her favorite brand of coffee.

The long awaited day arrived...

Andrés was surprised to see Lagrimita very well preserved and expressed: What an honor, not even Madonna is so well preserved, you look like a wine, not just any wine, the most special one in Scotland!

— I have been waiting a long time for my moment on the bench, I want to come back and I have prepared for it. Lagrimita replied.

— What do you want to do?

— I want to sing, I want contact with the public, in big concerts and intimate recitals, I want to make videos, photos, records, I feel in a good moment and I want to immortalize it for the memory.

— What a beautiful way of speaking, you can feel the art in your words, Uff? the industry has changed, now we are in the moment of streaming music, the formula is to have a lot of presence, almost invasive, the quality of the music is something important, but at the same time secondary, I don't know if you understand, I'm talking about releasing a song a month, with a very marked identity, an audiovisual minimalism, sexually suggestive, making collaborations with other artists has become an almost essential movement, creating a bohemian character for the social networks dressed in fashion in luxury scenarios, in turn embrace a cynical philosophy, leave the love that is forever and unrequited for a crazy night, and live on the edge of the moment, a ballad has to be very good to position itself, we are in the era of dancing and rubbing without thinking. There really is an audience for everyone, even to revive Rocio Durcal, but everything mentioned above is to conquer the masses.

By the time I got back from break, Andres had a plan.

— We are going to launch a souvenir show, an experiment to see how the box office responds, now that you can, we will do media tour for promotion, the result will draw your future.

It did. Tickets sold out in three days, it was time for the next step, to make a song with his new image and present it that day as the official launch of a new stage in his career.

For the creative process, the producers were democratic with Lagrimita's ideas, she wanted to try the urban style with electronic nuances, cumbia, tribal and reggae, show songs with a simple language, attached to the formula of "Pata Pata", a sound that incites to dance to use networks like TikTok and Instagram, virilize a choreography, and thus achieve that the song rises like the foam. Under these guidelines they created the song "Lagrimita de amor".

The memory show was a success, the process was exhausting, but rewarding, Andres agreed to represent her, and Lagrimita, at 55 years old, was living her dream, it was just the beginning, then came a season of hard work, songs, music videos, interviews, television appearances, travel and much more, there were difficulties, but the good times were in the majority.

One night, a few hours after getting off the stage, barefoot, walking on the shore of the beach, she wrote on the sand: "God's timing is perfect". Lagrimita Perez.
