They said "Make sure you always find time to go to church." Even the bible puts it clearly " do not forsake the gathering of fellow brethren." Some even say its a sin not to go to church.

How often do you hear this, "Pray for our nation and everything happening inside it." I definitely can't count.
They said once am in the church, am in the presence of my Maker. But they never told me something else.

They never told me the church, the mosque, is no longer safe. Nobody told me I could get killed praying for my country in my place worship. Perhaps they too never knew.

I was all set, ready to hit the road. Time to go to church. I was a bit late so I hurried up all I had to do. Just as I was closing the door, my phone rang. "Who come be dis" I muttered to my self. I picked up the phone, it was a friend serving in another state.
"guy how far, wetin dey?"
"you heard what just happened? Some people just attacked a church, shooting everybody inside the church. "

I was shattered, how? I sat down but stood up again. With so much effort I dragged myself to church. The news was everywhere already. The pastor was even talking about it. Everybody beside me looked scared. Who wouldn't be, with this kind of news. Everybody sees anybody as a suspect. We no dey know finish, lol. If it could happen over there who says it can't happen in any other place of worship.

How low has humanity fallen? How evil have we as a race become? I mean, how do you even point a gun at a 5 yrs old child?

Her only crime was following her parents to church that (un)fateful Sunday morning.

A family of five was not spared. They didn't escape the bullets of the animals in human flesh. Maybe they should have stayed at home. What manner of wickedness and terror are we witnessing. How do we help this situation? So many questions begging for answers.

It is as clear as daylight that the nation is at war. It is gradually encroaching into every facet of our lives. It started in the North, we thought we were far from it. It is starring us in the face "winter is here. " This is a war that has the capacity to consume us all. The worse part is, our so called leaders are doing nothing about it. They are only interested in fighting for who will be the next set of looters.

We don't have weapons to defend our selves. The only place we can go and call on our maker for help is turning to be a death ground. Everyone is scared to go to the mosque or the church. Who, what, will save this country?

Elections are fast approaching. so what will change? Who among the present candidates contesting has the country at heart? Will the election even hold? We watch as things unfold.

As it stands, telling people to be careful is a gross understatement. Careful should be our second name. The roads are not safe, relaxation spots are not safe. Now they are trying to make our places of worship also not safe.

We pray things turn around for good, for everyone. Till then I guess we will still continue to be careful and keep praying.
