Witnessing My Friend's Son Dedication Ceremony

I got an invitation from my friend Leonard to attend his son's dedication ceremony in the house of God several days ago. I had several engagements on that day but had to reschedule them so that I could attend the event that I was invited to by Leonard . Leonard has been a nice friend to me and my family thus I had to honour his invitation.

I had several engagements on the day Leonard was to dedicate his son in church like I mentioned earlier but some of them could not be rescheduled. One of those engagements was a domestic chore that had to be taken care of before it becomes cumbersome. I had to clear the weeds that had sprouted in our premises. The weeds had grown and covered quite a large area in our premises.

Consequently, my day started with this chore. I had to clear the weeds manually with implements, a hoe and rake. I spent three hours on this chore and felt quite exhausted after it's completion. I could not afford to rest for a short period of time after I finished this chore because the event I had to attend was scheduled to commence in an hours time. I cleaned the implements that I used to clear the weeds and proceeded to my apartment to prepare for the event. I had my bath, got dressed and set out for the church where Leonard's son dedication ceremony was to take place.

I was happy to met a mutual friend of Leonard and I on my way to the church. He was also on his way to the church for the event. We exchanged pleasantries and had a chat as we proceeded to the church. We got into the premises of the church and also met many of our mutual friends who were also present for the event. We exchanged pleasantries and were led into the church by ushers at the entrance. We went into the house of God, had our seats and took part in the ongoing mass. Leonard and his family were led out of the temple of God by the ushers for the dedication ceremony during the course of the mass. His friends and guests followed suite. Leonard, his family, friends and guests were to walk back into the house of God with the guidance of the ushers to formally present his son to the priest for dedication to God. Leonard was overwhelmed with joy when he saw the large turn out of friends and guests present. The grim on his face expressed how happy he was to see us. I walked over to him and his wife to greet them. We exchanged pleasantries and engaged in a conversation which was interrupted by their photographer who requested that we take a photo together. Other mutual friends of Leonard and I also took photos with him, his wife and son. The ushers informed us that it was time for the dedication ceremony not long after the brief photo session. Leonard and his wife led the way back into the church as we sang and danced to God while advancing to the altar. Leonard and his wife gave their son to the priest as they got to the altar and knelt down as he prayed and performed the dedication ceremony. We moved back to our seats after the priest performed the dedication ceremony and observed the rest of the mass with the congregation. We left the church when it was concluded.

Leonard held a reception party for his guests which I also attended. The party availed his friends and guests the opportunity to celebrate with him and interact with each other. I had interesting conversations and a great time at the party. I went home after the party feeling exhausted. I took my bath when I got home, hopped on my bed and retired for the day!
