Bright Burn was an interesting watch

I just finished Bright Burn and I must say it was an interesting watch.

The movie is essentially the beginnings of Superman and how he discovers that he has super powers, but instead of Superman being a nice guy he is an inherently (and somewhat autistic lmao) evil fella.

It's pretty much the same story. Small spaceship carrying a baby lands on the farm of a nice couple that for whatever reason can't have a baby blah blah blah.

Other than the interesting and in my opinion well executed spin on the Superman story, the movie doesn't have much to offer. Don't get me wrong, it's a good horror movie. The flow, acting, visual effects etc are all pretty good. And I liked how it didn't have a happy ending..

But at the end of the day... When we watch superhero movies we want the good guys to win.. We like to imagine that those good guys could may well be us if we ever had the luck to have their powers.. Even if in reality most of us would probably use those powers for our own self interest. We like to think that we are better than what we actually are.

And imo that's where the demise of the movie lies. It's a good movie that just feels wrong to the gut. It reminds us of our own hypocrisy. And we don't like that.

And now that I think of it again, it was actually a good movie. I just don't see it getting any sequels :)

Don't they get tired of all these superheroes respins? A serious lack of imagination or ...? The original Superman is a fairytale and it should stay like this IMHO :)

I saw parts of it over a friends. I didn’t really care for much of what I saw. However I do agree the special effects were pretty good.

I watched this movie not long ago...I think that the initial plot is interesting but the ending is like you said...a horror movie... so it is a horror movie ending... and sometimes it sucks! lol

I kind of saw "man of steel" in that way. A self-serving alien trying to find his place in the world just happened to fall towards good. Once shit got real cities were destroyed. I don't see superman as a good guy. Once the joker killed lois lane, superman turns really quick to the Darkseid.

Bright burn, though, was just a kid coming into his own powers. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I will now.

Oh that's great. I shall check on this movie. I grew up watching Superman movies. I seem all the series but I like the first one the most !

have seen it years ago, is ok but I'm not a fan of such movies.

But decent watch if you are bored and have nothing else to do :)

Very good movie, which I feel is not valued as it should be. I think the public does not want to see how a person with superpowers can be evil. I liked it a lot.
