Cooking Tips :- Getting Your Desired Results When Cooking.

avatar

It's always annoying when you have pictured that perfect meal in your head but when you finally decide to prepare the meal, it doesn't come out well. My dear, it's not your fault but there were some things you forgot to do that gave you that bad result. Severally, I have prepared egusi soup that ended up burning and I had to pour it out, or let's say after the first and second time eating it, I had no choice but to dispose of it. Well the essence of this post is to see how we can avoid that.😜

Hii, it's your boy Trojan and today, I will be writing on some tips we can all practice to get that meal pictured in your head to reality. I'm sure you'd like that right? So let's go.

  • Always Be In A Good Mood

Omo this is very important while cooking. It is commonly said that if you cook in a bad mood, the food will eventually end up being bad. Cooking is a thing of joy and if you don't derive joy when cooking, it's advisable to leave that cooking for some other time. If not, you'd just provoke the gods lolz😂😂.

  • Set up your workspace.

Setting up your workspace makes things easier. Whatsoever might be needed in cooking the meal, get it ready. Be sure to have utensils at arm's length to avoid looking for them when it is needed.

  • Practice Pre-Cooking.

This mostly involves pre-slicing the onions needed, blending the tomatoes, mixing the tomato puree, peeling the seasoning cubes. Everything you might need, get them ready before you start cooking. Multitasking is good but not when it comes to cooking. Especially if your gas burns fast like mine. So it's better to have them ready than do them while the food is on fire.

  • Create A Clean Space.

I can remember when my mum also quarried my sister for not always cleaning up during cooking and all she says is “I’m still cooking na”.

Instead of allowing the mess to pile up, take short breaks in between to clean the surfaces and tools you've used. It'll definitely save you a lot of time and stress later.

Asides that, without proper clean up, you might get things mixed up. So always clean up have a clean workspace.

  • Rely On Your Instinct

Most times, we trust machines or things. Yes they are there to do the work for us but we shouldn’t rely on them fully. If you are baking and you’ve set timer, don’t wait for that specific timing before checking it out you can always fix an undercooked but there's nothing to be done once you go over.

Always go with your instinct. Trust yourself even though that might be your first time preparing the dish, trust yourself.

  • Taste 👅 As You Go…

There are some situations whereby you end up with over spiced or something else and you wonder where in went wrong. Well my dear, it went wrong when you listened to your village people and added more salt or seasoning 🧂 without tasting it as you added.

Most people have this habit of saying “I use so so number of maggi when cooking.” My dear, this might not have some impacts in most meals but in others, you can’t just say until you taste it. Always taste before you add

If the recipe says 3 spoons of sugar or salt, add 2 and then taste. If doing mix (rice and stew), taste each separately and together to see if it mixes well. Remember taste ooooo don’t listen to your village people😂😂😂😂.

Lastly,

  • Go With A Brand You Trust.

Even though cooking a new meal is trial and error but as a lady who wants to cook for the first time for her in-laws, please go with a brand you trust. If it isn’t available, go get it. Some brands are produced differently so until you are accustomed to how it tastes and what it does to the food, my dear be smart and do what you know. To avoid story that touches 😂😂😂

I guess that’s all I can say for now. Remember to practice good cooking habits for best results. If you have any additions, feel free to use the comment section.
