Hi Everyone,

When I was in uni, I loved going to the city and spend money on crane machines. Though once you have been to Japan and tried out their machines, the ones here in Sydney is pretty boring. I remember spending so much money in Japan on these machines we bought a whole suitcase back with all our winnings. In fact, we did take the boys to the crane machines in Japan 2 years ago before the lockdown but they were too young to remember so today we showed them again how to play. We were at Broadway for lunch and they opened a new area with these claw machines and what is more, they have some cool anime stuffed toys in each machine. We walked around the whole area and we knew we wanted to get a little figurine from the bubble machines so we got that first for $8. Expensive but hubby liked it and it was quite big so it wasn't too bad, probably double the price than what we would have paid in Japan. We are still in lockdown so this is the best we could do.

Then we moved onto the small claw machines to get jiggly puff from Pokemon for baby M. After 5 goes, we didn't end up getting it cos the claws never closed up and the toy just flops back down with the rest of the toys. Baby M didn't understand the concept of the claw and got really upset with it thinking he got cheated by the machine. Although we told him beforehand it depends on luck we may not be able to get it, he seemed to have forgotten our talk from the beginning and tears kept flowing. Poor little man couldn't stop him so we ended up leaving the place and got a Boost Juice before getting a bit of grocery then head home.

I am not sure how these guys tweak the machines at this particular place but since we were there, we haven't seen anyone get anything. The ones in Japan seems to be a bit more reasonable and the best part is the staff there will move the toy or help you out if you miss it a few times. This place doesn't have anyone manning the machines therefore not as fun.

Aww your kids look like they're really enjoying it : ) Can't wait to take my girl to some of these one day. The ones in the U.S. are always rigged 😆

The little dopmaine rushes when winning can be addictive lol. I spent a small fortune playing gashapon and claw games in Japan. Was great to win 'official' merch from some of my favourite anime.

Skill and (mostly) luck based games can seem unfair, depends on the operator's settings I guess. Glad they got something to take home at least, a cool one too 🙂

Yah I guess the bubble toys are the safest bet, take something home even tho its random but at least we know its from a series they like :)

The claw machines in Sydney is look like the machines in HK, they are a bit boring when compared to Japan.

The vibes and machines in Japan are way better for sure, and I am surprised you got many many pieces of teddy bear (are they all teddy bears?) in your trip in Japan, I am not really good on play that but just enjoy the progress of the game 😅

Yah when I saw it, my first though they just import the same machines from Asia.

Japan has loud music, blinking lights, so cool hahaha

Just like that. Similarly to the the slot machines and other things in the casino. The house always win. At least in long term. There are 1-2 lucky people to create the appearance that these machines are legit and good, and not (complete) scams.

Yep exactly but the kids don't understand and never played so need to let them know what it is.
