Hi Everyone,

During our visit to Mount Hakodate, the plan was to go late afternoon to see the magnificent view in the sunlight and then stay for a few hours waiting for sunset which has one of the best views of Japan. With two little ones with us, we need to make sure they are warm, fed, and entertained so we went to Legato Cafe in the information building. There are two cafes/restaurants there and we chose this one as it opened earlier. A few people were already lining up to go into the restaurant but we were able to get a seat with a great view in front of us.

Due to Japan just opening up, there were very limited items on the menu at the cafe. I think the number of tourists visiting isn’t like pre covid days so things are made pretty simple here. There are only a few hot drinks and limited food options. We ordered some hot cocoa and cheesecakes as a set. We also ended up ordering a few more hot drinks as we waited for the sun to set.

The restaurant did have a simple rule to advise customers that they need to have a table in order to buy any food or drinks. This is to eliminate any people standing up to eat and drink, everyone should be seated indoors. The drinks were average which we expected. Most of the people there were enjoying and waiting for the sunset to come in.

Our little ones were enjoying themselves playing some card games and taking some photos from the window next to us. By the time sunset, there were lots of people trying their luck to see if there were a free table but it was a full house. We stayed a little to enjoy the view when the lights were out and the view was magnificent. It was freezing outside so we were blessed to be indoors or the kids will be really miserable and we won’t be able to stay that long to see the view. If you are visiting Mount Hakodate, it is best to visit this cafe for a comfortable experience to enjoy the view.
