My first week back home was marked by an unending rain that seemed to never let up, yet I still found a way to enjoy myself :) Grabbing a cup of coffee at the fav shop and walking along the beach was my thing to do when home. The sun finally came out after the whole week of rain. The path and the beach are still the same, but there is a bit more quiet than before. Perhaps, it's winter, so there aren't many tourists visiting the city and locals don't go swimming.

The recent storm that swept through left its mark on the shoreline, and eroding parts but the beauty of the beach is undeniable. The stunning scenery of the coast is a sight to behold. With coconut trees lining up along the shore and fine sand beneath your feet, it's hard not to be mesmerized by the beauty again and again. The sound of waves crashing in harmony and the green mountain in the distance with a majestic statue of Buddha at its peak are even more captivating view. 🙂

As my friend and I walked along the beach and soaked up the atmosphere, we became aware of many things that are different.
The city experienced one of its worst storms in recent history just a couple of week before my return. From flash floods and uprooted trees to power outages, the storm wreaked havoc on the city, leaving behind a path of destruction and chaos. The images of extreme weather conditions and property damage were heartbreaking for me to see from afar.

Unexpectedly, my friend's house in the center was flooded and she had to leave everything behind and run away in the middle of the night, but safety is priority. It had been a few days since the storm hit, and the aftermath it left was nothing short of disastrous. Streets were flooded and homes were damaged, leaving many with the daunting task of cleaning up and rebuilding their lives. We know, despite all the hardship, people have managed to band together. When storm gone, life was back to normal.

We both had a great time and decided to see each other again the following day :)

Thanks Mie. When the storm has passed, she has the motivation to save up to build her own house as soon as possible 🙂

She's back! Someone else revisiting home and enjoying the time spent rediscovering her roots.

The storm that hit was dreadful, were lucky here in Thailand because storms that come over from that way usually run out of steam before they get here.

In 2011 we did have terrible floods though in a huge swathes of Thailand. I couldn't get in my condo for 3 months as at its peak, we had 2m of water outside. Awful times so I really understand the misery flooding brings.

Be well, take take and be safe :-)

Central of Viet Nam unfortunately experiences a great deal of natural disasters each year, particularly storms and floods. I remember Hoi An was submerged in flood water 8-9 times in a month in 2020. Nathen, we have shared similar disheartening experience recently, however, we can't allow such thing to bring us down. We must soldier on as life is short and what doesn't kill us make us stronger and better people for it.

Thanks for sharing your thought and experience :)

Stunning scenery and except for some hut that are down, there isn't any sign of the havoc that the previous storm had caused. It's amazing how truly resilient people are, picking up the pieces, rebuilding and moving on :)

Thanks Sara, I always enjoy walking there whenever I return home. There are some changes and damages after the storm, but it's still beautiful. 😘

Humans are resilient as a species that's for sure! Things come in and destroy but we are persistent and we can rebuild what is destroyed that's for sure! Looks beautiful and I'm glad that you got back there and had a space of good weather to get out and enjoy it. I know with a long period of rain, it gets a little depressing watching it constantly rain!

One thing for sure, Melbourne weather is unpredictable, even in season that depict to be hot, summer where is it? I'm freezing now haha

Yes, it was nice to be home, yes it is beautiful however it's not as livable as Australia, to be honest I felt a bit hot there in Viet Nam :)

Thanks for stopping by, much appreciated your input :)
