A two-day stopover in Wellington

avatar

Located near the South Island of New Zealand, Wellington is a hub for business and culture. With an eclectic mix of restaurants, galleries, and museums lining Welly's streets, there is something to do every day. It's a must-see location for any traveler if you're planning to visit the country.

Unlike other small towns I visited, Welly is a much bigger population. It has a vibrant, cosmopolitan feel and is characterized by its many parks and harbor. Wellington offers a great mix of lifestyle and works with the ability to experience New Zealand's nature and culture as well as the capital's vibrant cafe and theatre scene.

The most popular thing with locals is the Wellington NZ Museum of City and Sea, which features interactive displays with themes such as science, technology, art, and history

The harbor of Wellington is one of the country's most iconic landmarks. It is a major port for the city and has been the site of many vessels coming and going. Visitors and residents alike enjoy sailing and fishing on the harbor as well as eating at any number of cafés and restaurants overlooking it.

Founded by Peter Jackson and Richard Taylor in 1987, the Weta Workshop in Wellington, New Zealand is a live-action effects studio that is known for its huge library of unique props and set designs that they have created. They also happen to be the founders of the Academy Award-winning Lord of the Rings film trilogy. The company is mostly known for its work with digital and practical effects in films such as Avatar and The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey.

In preparation for our ferry voyage to the South Island, my friend @hknauy and I stopped over in Wellington for a few days to explore the capital and meet up with other friends who were living there at the time. We had a great time walking around the city. We felt safe there and enjoyed all the culinary options.

A two-day stopover in Wellington on the way to the South Island can offer a variety of things to do and see. From museums to the city's center, with so much choice, it can be hard to find what we want to do for such a short time, but there are also plenty of options that don't take up too much of our time. Like walking around the scenic harbor and exploring the city's waterfront. 🙂

Here in Wellington, you can enjoy a day at the beach or an outdoor picnic; enjoy a leisurely bike ride or walk or take a quick ferry ride across the harbor to the east or west coast beaches. Wellington boasts a top-class restaurant and culinary scene, excellent shopping opportunities, and the excellent choice of accommodation from world-leading five-star hotels, budget-friendly backpackers.

It was my first time in Wellington at night, and it was hard not to notice how much more alive the city felt at night than during the day. It was drizzling slightly, but the wind was calm, and the waves were almost lulling. What a great night for a walk!

What to do in Wellington, New Zealand at night? The city of Wellington is a great place at night with many events taking place. Some of the popular things to do include: going to the movies, attending a gallery opening, and visiting some of the bars and clubs.

Our journey to the south began after saying goodbye to Wellington and the North Island

I thought that maybe because it would be such a short visit, the only thing I would be able to do is to walk around the center, see the museum and cafes. But the second time I came back here, I was surprised to find out that there were many spectacular places to visit around like Castlepoint Lighthouse and Cape Palliser (check out my previous post about these 2 destinations here)

I have so many places on my bucket list to check out when I'll visit New Zealand, but somehow I never knew about this one. I guess, it's never too late to add something new to your list 😃

Haha I told you before. Travelers typically prefer to go to distant places over ones closer to home.
Thank you for being so supportive my friend. I appreciate you 🤩
