CONG CAPHE in NU Sentrals , Kuala Lumpur -
Greeting to all coffee lovers!
How are you today? I hope your day is better than yesterday—fueled by coffee and good intentions, as always.

VIETNAM COFFEE
After returning from our vacation in Vietnam and Thailand, my wife and I spent 4 days and 3 nights in Kuala Lumpur before heading back to Singapore. To be honest, even though I'm Malaysian, I'm not very familiar with Kuala Lumpur since I grew up in Sabah. Luckily, this time my wife became our guide—she had studied in KL for a few years and knew her way around quite well.
On our third day there, we decided to take a short break at Cong Caphe, located inside NU Sentral, before heading back to our homestay. If you haven’t heard of it, Cong Caphe is originally from Vietnam. Just from the name alone, you can already tell—it carries that distinctive Vietnamese vibe. In fact, “Cộng Cà Phê” literally translates to “Public Café” in Vietnamese, a nod to its unique concept and cultural roots.
WHY WAS COFFEE IS SO POPULAR IN VIETNAM .
Here are some interesting facts (source: Google) that explain why Vietnamese coffee is so popular:
Vietnam is the world’s largest producer of Robusta coffee beans.
It’s also the second-largest coffee exporter, right after Brazil.
For the Vietnamese, coffee is more than just a drink—it’s a lifestyle. Cafés are a common place to unwind, catch up with friends, or simply enjoy people-watching.
The historical roots of Vietnamese coffee can be traced back to 1857, introduced during the French colonial era. Since then, it has evolved tremendously—growing from local brews to a proud national product known globally for its rich flavor and unique brewing style.
As someone who are can claimed as a coffee lover , honestly can say Vietnamese coffee stands out—not only for its bold taste but for the entire experience. So, as I sat down at this coffee house, I was genuinely excited to enjoy a cup of what I knew would be something special.

From the moment you arrive at the front of the café, you can instantly feel the Vietnamese vibes. The decorations, from the rustic wooden elements to the retro wall posters, reflect the charm and culture of Vietnam. And then there's the aroma—the rich, deep scent of freshly brewed coffee that fills the air. That familiar smell alone already told me, without a doubt, “This is Vietnamese coffee.”

To see if the taste was as authentic as the ones we had in Vietnam, I purposely ordered the most popular drink among Vietnamese locals—coffee with condensed milk. It’s a classic that never disappoints. As for my wife, who’s not much of a coffee fan, she went with her usual favorite—cocoa with cinnamon, a comforting choice she always picks whenever we visit a Vietnamese café.

Surprisingly, the total for both drinks came up to RM29.80. With that amount, we could’ve easily had four sets of the same drinks in Vietnam! But I wasn’t too shocked—after all, the café is located inside NU Sentral, and I understand the cost of doing business in such a prime location. Between the rent and overheads, it’s only fair they price their drinks a bit higher.

We went up and waiting for our drinks there.

This is how it look at the upper place at the cafe.
